I call Victoria... although if we're still waiting for Warlords... I might pick Churchill if he turns out to be better.

ahem. i wont be available for such a test either... but otoh we know that I'm (mostly) tech issue clean
IMO we shouldnt start HOTW7 before HOTW5 is finished. but my impression is that it will be anyway, so not many worries there.
I do fear that, looking at firaxis' track record, we must wait for at least the first warlords patch
we'll see soon enough.
either way. looking forward to it a lot. are we going for a huge terra map then?
and I want to make a demand that all participants agree to making at least one post per session. if its only just to say, "[MyCiv] grows slowly and steadily, wishing to maintain friendly relations with everyone". (hopefully more than this as it would be oh so dull with such posts, but I'm sure we'll all be willing to chip in a little extra )
also, very very long posts might be discouraged (not prohibited, just discouraged) since 12 x lots and lots of text might turn out to be more like work than fun to read through. by no means a demand, just a request, IMO several short posts > one looooong post. also, several short posts made over several days allow for a little more "development over time" and reacting to other civ's deals.
oh whatever, you get it, its working fine really, just want to make sure everyone will participate and be activeDiplogamer formerly known as LzPrst

I think we shouldn't start this game until HOTW V is over, that is the first thing that should be done regardless of whether we are waiting for Warlords or not.
That said, I think we should also wait for Warlords to come out.
If we are going for twelve people the best thing to do would be to try and get a good time schedule for them, which is going to take some time (sometimes weeks as we saw with the original attempt at diplogaming in Civ IV). We should utilize that time to test out the problems with connecting twelve people who live around the world. Another thing we need to do is determine what map we're going to use; I don't think that has been determined quite yet.
Another benefit of using Warlords would be the new features obviously, plus perhaps we should be devising a list of things we may want to mod for the upcoming game (i.e. the UN elections). Another thing I think would benefit us, and I got this idea from Cyber's last post in this thread; maybe should only allow a civ to found ONE religion; this will make the game more competitve and each religion would get a potential shot at being predominate (in HOTW V a couple of tribes started multiple religions, and some of them toook a back seat to others, and in HOTW VI Cyber apparently founded 6 religions, which is ridiculous).
By the way, do we actually have 12 people?"Our cause is in the hands of fate. We can not guarantee success. But we can do something better; we can deserve it." -John Adams

I vote for HUGE map rather than large. We need room damnit!
Yeah, definatedly a mod is needed, if only for the UN. (Who knows, if the mod's good enough, it might get used in the next XP! )Other suggestions: maybe enable the renaming of wonders, expand a bit on the espionage aspect, etc etc.
And yeah, I'm down for this one. China's mine!

I don't think that only allowing one religion per civilization is a really good idea. With 12 players no civilization will found more then 3 religions anyway (at the uber-max). Remember that HOTW6 was with only 5 civs!
I'll see if I can do anything about the UN-thing. I haven't done any modding to civ4 yet, but since I am a programmer I should be able to. Other ideas for the UN would be:
- ability to ignore resolutions
- ability to enforce trade embargos (that can be ignored of course)
- permanent members with veto power (UN builder, biggest land mass and biggest population?)
Besides that we do need the tech trade mod of course.
- only trade techs you researched yourself or conquered
Maybe someone in the modding community can do something for us............ I'll ring their bell as well.
I think that we do have 12 players easily btw.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

just to mention a few things about religions IRL. Hinduism and buddhism is founded in india. taoism and confucianism is founded in china. jerusalem is a holy city to judaism, christianity (and islam, but secondary to mecca+medina).
having several isnt that crazy. having 6 (almost 7) was, but made for an interesting game development. I tend to agree with Capo's original screamings, no rules! they're too restrictive. though some minor adaptions sounds fine. what is this UN mod I'm hearing about?Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst
