  • Hotw6?

Just wondering outloud at this point.

But I spoke to another friend of Nolan's tonight who really took to the idea of diplogames, and is really interested in getting involved in one. He said that if he could play in one two nights a week he'd give up all other MP games and ladder play.

So for now he is an eager sub.

But if OmniTrout is really interested in playing a diplogame, maybe he and this new guy could start up something new.

Maybe with a few people from HOTWV taking on a second game (not me) and with a few other new people we could have a decent second game. Doesn't have to be as big. Maybe like 5-6 could be good.

We can at least help him find some people. I think if there are people like me and Ozzy who claim they are all about diplogames and extending the community, we should actively try and help set up games we are not going to be in.

I mean, it doesn't take much other than finding players. Deity Dude is an option, Dangime is an option, Rah is a possibility. There were a couple of others who couldn't play in HOTW V also. So I think if we tried to tap these resources we can easily get a second game going, even without players in both games.

        Rah doesn't do diplogames.

But I talked to Frank and he seemed somewhat interested. I gave him the link to this thread, hopefully he'll stop in.

The other guy I talked to just registerd for the forums and signed up for the diplogame civ-group. His name is Abyssal_Nuclei. Hopefully he'll stop by here too.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and express interest too. Also, if this takes off, I'm booking China.

Yes, like ozzy said I'd be interested in playing a diplo game.

I'm between assignments at work, so I never know when some project will choose to eat my time slot, but that's just where I'm at right now.

And since I'm one of the crazy veterans, I'd be all for fastforwarding through some of the already learned lessons from civ2, like getting off over sized world maps, and getting rid of tech trading so we don't have to spend every turn checking the foreign minister so we don't fall behind in tech no matter how good we run our civ.

I've always been partial to world maps, but the current game is on a Terra map and I must say I'm starting to get convinced. I forgot how nice the randomness and discovery is with fresh maps, especially in a diplogame. I recommend it.

And Civ4 is nice in that it prevents tech trading before inventing alphabet (and map trading until paper). Then again we just passed that milestone in HOTWV and people are trading tech like crazy... I had forgotten that it was an issue in other games, hmm...

With the gentlemen rules of Diplo games, I think it would be good to also include rules limiting over-zelous tech trading...

What's the point in running a tight civ ship if you can trade techs like crazy? Doesn't it also remove the alliance function of the game, where every tech and resource are shared?

I say we find some way to limit tech trade for this game

                  eeeh... any ideas?

Maybe limit tech trading to official alliance partners?

But tech trading must still be in a diplo game in some form.

I might do this game too if the time slot works.

Open boarders is basicly the trade and income bonus for being friendly with someone. It benefits the lesser more than the greater members too.

Why not just click the no Tech Trading option. I hate tech trading. It seems to limit strategy. Why risk resources trying to get techs or even a tech lead if I can use those resources somewhere else and just trade for them.

I might be interested depending on time slot - I just gotta get used to barbs and epic. I seem to lose my cap to barbs alot when I play those settings.

Ok, sweet. We've got 6 people tenitively interested so far.

                            Make that seven (7)
but only if my time availability is compatible.

Weeknights from 9 pm local (UTC-4) on - That's from 1 am UTC/GMT up to whatever. I think this would work well with other people from similar timezones. Also, I'd like it to be 2-3 sessions per week, although I admit that doesn't leave much time for creating the story thread. Maybe a "light" diplogame, sort of a cross between a diplogame and an epic style semicton game (faster paced)?

Finding one timeslot where all 7 of you can schedule a game regularly will be hard enough, getting 2-3 times will be nigh impossible.

For those who can play more I suggest just setting up multiple games. Like we're doing.

Maybe once HOTW6 is off the ground, people can start thinking about 7.
