The outside temperature is soaring rapidly today, 33.5C at 8.30am, looks certain to rise above 40C, so a day in the airconditioned house playing civ4 looks enticing. Will be out briefly after this post, but then will be available most of the day

We played today,Trev,deity,dangime and myself. Downloaded the patch (5 mins) and then we played for 4-5 hours without any problems other than I sucked.

Looking forward to putting my dad in his place.

We are using the 1.52 patch which is fine for direct IP games.

I'm not sure this game is viable as MP - too much to do in the turns

it is played as simultaneous turns, so everything is done in turns, works extremely well, and progresses quite fast, just turn up today and test a mp game out, I will be on most of the day, and probably deity in the afternoonand evening too, appears the fires stayed away from his house, apparently the fires were frightened of him.

Just give it a go as MP.

It's way faster than Civ2 and games progress a long way each session - maybe only need 6 or so sessions to complete a game but I've not got to the end yet

Simul works real well and that's something coming from me!

Most of the microing can be automated, with lots of options in the cities, ie maximise production or food etc. OR just use the preset fully auto setting.
