those who know me from the Civ 2 forum, know i can really get into micromanaging I've tried CtP II, but find the PW rather annoying. Civ I was really groundbreaking and almost voted for it as i think i may still have more hrs logged in Civ I than i do Civ II, but in the end chose Civ II (MGE by default), as there is so much more that can be done in Civ II than Civ I.

I haven't played Civ2 in ages, but the WW2 Europe scenario was great.

I have't looked, but are there any good WW2 scenarios for Civ3?

It is practically impossible to make a WW2 scenario--or any historical scenario, for that matter--in Civ3 as it stands, since you can't set diplomatic relations in the scenario editor

I voted civ III, but it seems that there are many more people who posted their praise for civ II MGE than civ III even though the vote is quote close. I wonder what this says. Anyway...

                      I prefer civ III for:
                      • Luxuries
                      • Much, Much improved AI
                      • Bombardment
                      • Better Trade
                      • Gold supporting units and settlers/workers require no food
                      • Worker units
                      • Selling/trading cities
                      • Challenges when wonder bullding
                      • Resources appear later (more realistic)
                      • Stacking units
                      • Borders!!!
                      • Better diplomacy

                      Well, that's enough for now.

Civ 3. I must have played Civ 2 every day for 3 years, but as soon as I got Civ 3 I never touched Civ 2 again. I love the idea of culture, I love the borders, I love the fact that different civs are actually different, I love the UUs, I love the improved graphics, I love the fact that you can raze cities, capture workers and artillery, I love the fact that you can't conquer the world with a Howitzer army, I love bombardment, I love that your whole stack doesn't die with one loss, I love that computer civs can't sneak a settler two squares from your capital and found new city, I love the updated AI, I love the new trading system, I love the fact that there are no superpowerful caravans/spies/ Fundamentalist government.....

I loved Civ 2 in its time, but I think that Civ 3 PTW is far superior. I will personally never go back to Civ 2.

Civ 2 (never had MGE, why wasn't normal civ 2 included in the poll?) was the best, due to the ability ot make great scenerios. Red front is a classic.

Civ 3 certainly has several imporvements, but honetly, i would have been happy if Civ 3 had just been AC reworked to fit an earth setting: too many of Ac's better ideas were ignored.

Civ II MGE is more competitive than Civ II.

I find it rather amusing that CivNet has one vote.
