Oh holy **** marathon? Oh well **** it.
Is 45 turns to research BW normal as the second tech?
OT: One comlaint I've always had against his map script is that it is incredibly bland, and the best thing to do with new cities is to always turn them into cottage cities if there are no food res, as epr usual. It really does need to increase the amount of resources present for the rescaled map sizes.Last edited by Krill; January 12, 2010, 17:50.You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

I do have a few session starts, civ crashed on me once, I loaded once around 400 bc to check out your 1000 ad save you posted, and I closed civ out entirely a couple times.
Double holy city=$
I've got good potential to have a triple holy city too, depending on how much the AI wants to cooperate with not researching Divine Right and my luck with rigging where the holy city goes. I got lucky with this one, I mistimed it and my missionary would have reached the city over by the silver too late, but I got some natural spread. Optics first, then dealing with a potential third religion.
I decided to go SE but don't really have it up and running yet, it was probably a bad choice given how few food resources there are, but oh well. Getting beaten to the hanging gardens hurt too, health poor continent.
Edit, I looked at your game Brandon... you shouldn't delay alphabet like that, building research owns.
i delayed alphabet cuz i was wonder whoring, i admit it . i got pyramids, great wall, parthenon, stonehenge, angkor wat, AP, and a few others already, my science is actually quite good and i still have some buildings left to build with my huge expansion coming up.

Going to be a totally different game with no barbs/spies/events/tech trading but with city flipping after conquest and complete kills (6 options different from what I usually play - but that's the beauty of Civ).
I'll try to remember and post the updates.

The double (hopefully triple) holy city will do wonders too, but I'm going to need to get wall street to start bringing in the huge benefits of that. A city like that with a corporation or two also placed in it is capable of generating 6000+ gold per turn on a map this size. Notice how I also set it up as the starting city so I'll have the food to run TONS of merchants to further take advantage of the multiplier effect WS will bring.

The only one I missed so far that I wanted was the hanging gardens, but I'll manage without.

~60 turns from liberalism, I think I'll hit that first, will use the free tech to take either astronomy or economics. Either way, I'm closing in on corporation to WS my big money maker. Picked up circumnavigation in 985, not really interested in anymore wonders for awhile so it's just about time to build my military up a little and start the rapid expansion. One city for settlers/units, one for religion spread, and giving preference to coastal cities to take advantage of the GL/Colossus should let me expand almost endlessly without any worry of my income. It's too bad I don't have cottages going right now, I'm running a profit with 100% to science.Attached Files

Here's the 1 AD, got aced on most religions and oracle, managed to get Taoism of all things.
With no barbs and neighbours, and lots of woods, I'm probably not building enough workers. And I accidentally built an axeman, thought I'd wait to maceman to build up the army.
Lousy return from huts, first three totalled 250 gold and a map. I only built one warrior, so except for the two warriors (starting and built), all warriors and scouts came from huts.
Note to Brael: With BTS, Stonehenge (and monuments) obsolete at Astronomy, not Calendar.
Man, this plays like a totally different game so far.Attached FilesRule 37: "There is no 'overkill'. There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'."

Ya, I slacked on workers too, I'm doing them now actually. I only had 7 for 12 cities, a normal game I should be running 12 or so for that. Going to build up to 20 now that I've got Civil Service and can start chaining my farms around.
And good to know with stonehenge, I saw monuments went obsolete with astronomy but I was thinking stonehenge went out earlier. That's a nice boost for it, I'm usually not big on building it though, maybe if I played an IND civ I would.Last edited by Brael; January 13, 2010, 01:47.

i was beat to the colussus and GL, i was <10 turns on both same with hagia sophia . alright i think i remember em all: stonehenge, pyramids, parthenon, great wall, great library, angkor wat, sistine chapel, that university one that gives +2 beakers per religion building, AP, taj mahal, all three shrines, i know im missing something i think, oh well.
cruising with only 60% science, around 400+ now, im in tech lead i think, everyones bigger than me so far, got 19 cities and growing fast, ive been steadily building units, almost everyones stronger than me , got the horse time to make some knights, working on astronomy right now, should alleviate the health hopefully then my cities can get huge, no happiness problems, discovered a gems from one of my mines, helped. im hoping to get liberalism first but want those observatories and trades first, if i miss it i think i'll be alright. with all these religions and angkor wat, i can build an army fast if needed, converted 3 civs to my religion thus far, converting one more, gonna get some powerful allies hopefully to watch me back
