The in game feature worked the same way for me that it sounds like it did for you.
You might want to go to Civfanatics and download the patch from there, and see if the results are any different.

that didnt work either, ive noticed when the install wizard starts that when the screen comes up to ask what to install all it shows is the checkbox for "sign me up for newsletter and register game", nothing else, is that normal? this is what happens every time whatever 3.19 i download: i double click, install wizard loads up, it then asks if you agree to terms, then it asks what to install but only that above mentioned checkbox shows up, then the press install button screen shows and i press install then the wizard vanishes and no install happens, nothing happens even checked my processes, nothing. i then restarted my computer and checked the version number over the BTS icon, still shows "3.1.7.0". i dont get it, like above mentioned all vanilla patches worked perfectly, i should mention that i have vista 64x but that shouldnt matter since vanilla patches worked. any ideas?

gee... when I installed 3.19, it didn't ask me for a newsletter or to register the game?

I just went to the link, and selected run. Not a problem. On my other machine, I did it via D2D and had no problems either.

ok, i just tried something, only in the 3.19 you can play w/o the cd/dvd right? cuz i can play w/o it now. below i have provided all build info from the main menu screen:

          civ version: 317

          save version: 301

          build version: 3.1.3.1 (104717)

          build date: mon may 19 08:20:10 2008

          build: final release

          mod name: none

im thinking maybe the patch went through but it isnt showing the version change for some reason, cuz now i can play w/o the disc in so i must have it then right?

Do a clean install. Uninstall the game, reinstall the game, and use the patches from either here or CFC.

thanks, i dont know why it worked now, maybe cuz i shut my firewall off completely but hey cant complain, shows 3.1.9. now, i'll check out the MP section soon, but i guess i may need to enable espionage if thats the "norm" on your guys' MP games, i like the old spies back in civ2 for ps1 where you just built them once you got communism and use them and they either were successful and/or got caught and you take a diplo hit as a result, but there alot of good upgrades vs. civ2, much more in-depth and the AI is actually much better.

If you're talking about the custom setting option, unless you're the host, you don't have to.
The host determines the settings used.

You can look at them in the lobby just like normal, you just can't change them.

Yes, you can review the settings with the arrows in the lower right side of the screen.

Yeah... and that's when the complaining sometimes starts... and the discussion of what settings are being used

It will not say: "Known scout killers here" however. That you have to figure out on your own.
