In a recent MP game, one of the players killed off an enemy scout that was near his land very early in the game. Granted, he had to declare war on another human to do so, but what the heck, nobody is really "friendly" in MP games This allowed the player to probably get a few more huts that were near his land, and keep another player from getting them.
I've started doing this more and more in SP games, expecially if I have only run across one AI early. It takes awhile for the AI to get more "searchers' near me, and usually provides me with more huts and a better lay of the land around me than the AI will have. As far as having an early war declared, the AI will usually allow peace after some time has passed. And usually, if there is only one AI near me, I don't really care what he thinks about me since he will probably be my first target anyway.
So... what do other people do when they find those nasty enemy scouts near their land early. Do you take them out or let them live. What advantages and disadvantages to you see.
