Yeah, but I've played enough SP games that I should have noticed it at least once.

dont you guys ever have good "ai's"? lol, i guess for me i play custom continents usually with 6 to 8 civs on 6 continents so hopefully one of them will actually get big and gimme a challenge and we end up space racing cuz conquest is not an option, lol. with the weaker civs if you try to kill em all that one or two good "ai" will get an substantial lead on you from you going to war all the time then when its their turn they are so much advanced that their rifleman/infrantry demolish your pre-gunpowder units, lol. i guess thats me, most of the time and im picky but i get a challenge, if not if i get the early lead instead of investing the time to conquer all cuz i play huge map with continents i'll just start a new game. most of the time i dont even have to build up my defenses cuz im usually in the tech lead but still have a min 4 current units per city with max attacking unit on each strategic resource then some in my border cities or closest to next rival cities.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
Sitting on a continent by myself (maybe after eliminating it's other occupant) and just hitting enter going for a space race or a cultural win is good only once. After that it's kind of boring. MUST HAVE BLOOD.

Ain't that the truth. Most of the times, if I find I'm just hitting the enter key over and over again (with the exception of the early game where it takes time to get going) the game is probably as good as over anyway. There is no "fun" left... so yeah, a little bloodshed does keep things interesting
And I can't imagine playing a game where the chances of being attacked (credibly) is almost non-existent. BORING But then that just a personal preference. I know a lot of builders that aim for that type of game. Different strokes for different strokes.

who doesnt like a little blood, but do you aim to win or hope you have enough to win, plus i play marathon so the building of ones army takes a long time plus the cost of upgrading ones early huge army is detramental too ones economy and science rate. if i played pangea maps id look to destroy all but playing on continents you cant do much til astronomy unless your the portugals, by then if you have good AI then the time it take to upgrade and/or build a up-to-date army big enough for total destruction would take too long in most instances. i dont play to kill kill kill every game, i play for score sometimes too, and in SP if the AI is good and they are keeping with me and/or surpassing me thats makes the game much more enjoyable, having a challenge, have you tried conquering all with modern and advanced units, mighty f*ing hard if the AI is good, especially if they took the time to build a respectable navy, but i prefer continents cuz its more realistic as opposed to pangea maps, so you cant destroy all except maybe that other civ on your island but if you cant do that early then your only hurting urself in the long haul and you may just want to play on that other being your one and only ally and expand elsewhere while the two of you conquer all one at a time when the proper techs come available. as always just my opinion, .
And that's what makes Civ great... you can play it however YOU want... whatever gives you enjoyment, because that's what games are all about. There is really no right or wrong way to play... The game gives you many different options and difficulty levels so you can pick what you enjoy. That is one of the good things about Civ. If it's too hard, dial it down, too easy, dial it up. You can create any challenge you want.
I play to have fun. And thank god for MP, or I'm sure I would have moved on to another game.

aint nothing wrong being a builder , if you dont take us out early you know we'll be big trouble later on cuz of our higher production and higher % of high production cities, i'll build if need be and i always have a good defense and always carry some offensive units but when i need too or plan on taking someone out i can build an army mightily fast and come with a reckon, lol.
Builders usually get taken out early unless they're isolated.

you havent played me, if the builder has any strategic knowledge it wont be easy and may not happen, in my current game our continent is cut in half (not literally, im on the east side, giglamesh is on the west side), i stood to the builder and wonder whoring part this game yet my border cities have the following: one has 20 infrantry, 5 machine gun, 10 cavalry, 4 artillery, 3 fighters, 1 paratrooper thus far. other city to the left: 15 infrantry, 10 machine gun, 10 cavalry, 3 fighters. next city to the north: 10 infrantry, 3 machine gun, 6 cavalry, 2 fighters. next city north and last on the west side: 8 infrantry, 3 machine gun, 6 cavalry, 3 fighters. on the east coast all coastal cities have 8-10 infrantry in each, all other of my cities have minimum 4 infrantry ready to go wherever needed. point is if your a "smart" builder that builds up defenses first and early then once the new tech comes upgrades ASAP we are mighty hard to beat, now that i have everything built in some cities and others are close too, im starting to build an offensive force especially once i get tanks, making an alliance with 3rd strongest will make it easier but i inherited a war with it but it was with 2nd place who hated my guts anyways and has a vassal himself.
oh yeah, no one else has destroyers yet but i have bout 32 of them so far,
