Kind of like alternate wonders, instead of like techs founded by great people. All available at Corporation for huge combinations of cultural points, gold, production points, and beakers investment seen as "encouragement" by government, without you knowing which one you will get and knocking the producing city off its production and other points contributions until it's done. Make it a gamble with a big payoff, not the current GPP/research exercise. Oh well!

while I have read some of the great things from corps in these forums, I'm still a state property kinda guy.
          No muss no fuss.

Sometimes more beneficial. With extra trade routes from free market and other benefits, SP has its drawbacks and is frequently NOT more beneficial, whether you're a big empire over multiple continents or not.

The true benefit of SP is in bonus to terrain improvements.

If you already have 4 trade routes in a city, the extra one from free market is wasted.

Expansion cities in large empires over multiple continents don't have 4 trade routes. They're lucky if they have 2.

                But good point to add.

I think in those cities the reduced maint. will easily offset the value of the extra trade route.

Four trade routes in a city is some sort of limit? Usually do SP, so am not aware.

Yes, to my knowledge 4 is the max. (that's all they can display, so making that assumption)

Now that we bring it up I know for sure I've seen a scoll bar in the trade routes window. But it's been ages since I've played straight up BtS... usually a mod of one form or another. So it could be that.

I'll have to check that. That's something I wouldn't even have considered, but I would think I would have noticed a scroll bar. I'll test it tonight or this weekend.

You can have more than 4. I had 5 in my current 3.19 mp game (until the GL was obsoleted ).

Well i be damned. THere is a scroll bar when there are more than 4. DOH. Learn something new everyday.

Yes without the GL, you're not likely to see it early in a game.
