Gee, I hope you're a bit more cheery in real life.

When we played CIV II you could play at deity and win quite easily almost every time. The only fun became playiing other humans since the AI Sucked so bad. It was not challanging and people complained.

Now we have civ IV where Unless I'm playing OCC I have never gotten close to winning at the hardest level.
HURRAY. I'm thrilled that I can't, so the game is still challangeing. I can win consistently at noble and prince. I stand a chance at monarch or emp. But still get creamed above that. The game is still a challange. I prefer that the hardest difficulty level be almost impossible to win. It gives you something to shoot for in the long term. For those that want to win more frequently there are easier levels.

Much better than a game where after you play it a handful of times you know enough to beat it routinely at the most difficult level. This way I feel I'm getting my money's worth.

its only challenging because of the insane maintenance penalties on the player. Without it the AI is toothless, and that is ridiculous.

Then play at the level you can handle. You have the choice. I don't understand the angst here. What, do you think if you can't beat the game at the hardest level you have a small penis or something. I personally find it refreshing that no matter how much I improve (at least up to now) there is still something to challange me.

Gee I hope you're better than a computer program. Don't argue about the handicap.

It's like the old MISSLE COMMAND game.
Each new level they started throwing more missles at you. Smarter ones and faster ones. That's what made each level slightly more difficult. No matter how good you got, eventually they come too fast for you. Did people ***** about the insane speed that without the AI couldn't possibly beat you. No, eventually the AI had too much of a handicap and you lost. But where that happens is really the true test of YOUR skill. If everyone could beat the game, how could you compare skill levels. If the top is unattainable on a regular basis, comparisions are possible.

            OH my GOD!!!
What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

The problem IS I should be on the ballet!! Forget all the other crap.

WHY AM I NOT ON THE BALLET!!!!

What don't you get about that question?

What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

Let put it another way: What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

Or I could say: What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

Who gives a damn about what level you play at when the fundamental rules are not rules.

How do you win when winning it is not allowed? How "fun" is that?

Again:What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

Just to recap in the vain hope that someone understands the typed word:
What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

I don't know how else to put it. I don't need lecture on difficulty levels.

What about victory conditions that are clearly NOT observed? The not on the ballet part.

What part of, I am not even on the ballet despite having by far the biggest population don't you understand?

This thread is done!! In all online forums, people lose the ability to understand the first post after 6 or so reply's. This has clearly happened to this thread. No one has the ability to understand the most basic question. The first post question.

Go ahead and do what you gotta do. I am done.

What part of: IF your population is large enough to win the diplomatic vote singlehandedly,

              THEN

You won't be put on the ballot. (Note it is "ballot." The other word you are using is a fancy-ass form of dance)

So, either spin off a colony as a vassal so you need its votes in order to win diplomatically or win some other way. If you are number one in poulation (50%+ apparently), other paths should be open.

Note that repeating the same question over and over in writing while seeming to ignore the answer does not encourage folks to respond to you. Also note that even though you started the thread, some of the subsequent responses might be other posters talking to each other. Thus, the difficulty level stuff might be a side conversation, do you think!

Well... your question was answered with the correct answer, and you choose to ignore it... and continue ranting. Talk about understanding

Thanks for The answer. As for repeating the question, yours was first post to actually say something coherent. I didn't get the other post alluding to victory. It was obtuse. So you can't even be Secretary General. I would nice to have this in the Civilopedia.
Thanks for clearly saying what the reason is.

I thought about it. Diplo is only an AI thing, since they will never vote you in. Master of Orion at least would allowed you to win a vote. You easily lose the game that way, but at least you could win that way. I doubt a diplo win in Civ 4 is going to ever happen.

I've won many Civ 4 games with a diplo win, but now turn that feature off since I'm not a big fan of it. Too many times I had victory snatched away by a cheap AI diplo win.

Culture wins are also very easy, as long as you can keep the AI off your back. But you also have to pay attention to see if the AI is trying to pull one on you.

Another snob artist. Sometimes the other dancers are just better than you. Quit whining and try for another part in a different show.

I am sorry that you found my reply incoherent, even though people seem to me to be repeating what I said. I will remember not to bother sending you further incoherent responses.

However, I strongly advise you throw away your copy of BTS. It seems to be causing you nothing but trouble and anger, which you then pass on to these forums. For your peace of mind and ours, please, let it go.

Eris, I understood what you said, but could also see the answer was not quite direct enough for LordBiff. Thus I made a translation, leaving out the exploit aspect of the AP. The latter is why I turn off the diplo victory, But if I am going for a domination win I also always make more than enough civs mad at me to use the UN to elect one of their own. Having the losers band together to save the world from a military juggernaut goes beyond my willingness to suspend belief. Ain' going to happen. So I turn the option off.

I was thinking of doing that.

I didn't say you were incoherent, just that to me, it was hard to understand what you saying. I just didn't get what you were saying. Sorry

Yeah, thanks I wasn't getting what he was trying to say I didn't even know what AP stood for. New to BtS.
