Ok. I've set up the game and here's how the settings look:

    Deity
    Standard Map Size
    Epic Speed
No Barbarians (Yeah I know this one is weak but bear with it)
    Choose Religions
    Permanent Alliances

A few things personal notes for those who seek a bit of info:

-Easily defendable, make good use of this fact.
    -Relatively safe for early expansion
-Do not Open Borders until you are content with what you have settled.
-Even a few cities will kick your research down to 30%
-Once the AI is friendly with you, they will help you by gifting technologies.
-I haven't playtested this a lot yet but from what I can see from my first and ongoing attempt is that the terrain is plenty good and while the AI's get very far ahead very fast, I don't deem it to be unwinnable as long as you hold your ground.

    Good luck!

        Gilgamesh being my direct neighbour?
Ok, it lasted for 10 minutes, I wasn't doing bad, I think, got 4 cities and some good goodies, some nice techs, but the gilgamesh invaded me with a huge army. I may try again later.

For next deity challange, please make ghandi my neighbour

This is me at 380 BC. Not doing badly, but prone to be invaded and destroyed at any minute I'm sure.

Ok the screen shot wasn't attached because I don't know how to reduce the size of it to under the required 800 pixels. Any advice?

So you're saying I should edit the map and put wussies as neighbors?

Hmm, for some reaseon I am able to download the save, but can't find it when I try to load the game.

It shows up under windows/vista in the right folder, but the save itself is not displayed once I try to load it from inside BTS, any ideas ?

I have the same problem. Civ just doesn't see this file as a valid save.

Fleme, do you have the unofficial patch installed?

Make sure that you rename the file extension with the right capitals:

                          .CivBeyondSwordSave

Notice the bold capitals! In most downloads the entire extension is in lowercase.

Ahhh, that works! Never tried a download before I guess.

Hmm, does not work for me, neither under Vista nor XP (installed Civ there in order to try it).

Or is there any special way to rename it ? I am not given the option to chance file extensions when renaming, so I just added ".CivBeyondSwordSave" to the file name.

edit: manged to fix it via "DOS-mode" - the files was named .CivBeyondSwordSave.civbeyondswordsave - but somehow I missed the option to change the extension in Windows. Any idea how to do it under Windows ?

I am running 64bit Vista and have no trouble renaming the extension. Make sure that Windows isn't hiding known file names extensions.
