    Bring back the CIV I black railroads!. Man, you knew where your railroaded squares were.

    I have to zoom way in to tell the difference between the grey highways and the equally grey railroads.

      I've heard there is a mod that makes the modern roads into, well, modern roads with black asphalt and yellow divider lines. Why does it have to be a mod though? Can't it become an automatic change to the landscape when combustion is invented?

        In BtS the roads change automatically around that time.

          Why don't we have two "road to" options?

          Option 1: Road from A to B ensuring commerce flow, the worker would just build a road that would connect existing cities. The connection does not have to be in any way optimal, as long as one exists then the job would be considered done. City A and B could be 3 tiles apart and the road connecting them could be going to the other end of the map and back.

          Option 2: Build road from point A to point B, but make it strategic. What that means is put a straight line between city A and B and build a road over that straight line. That ensures that units from A would take least amount of time to reach B. The road would be over the "shortest" distance and the workers would build it even if there is already road connection between A and B.

It often switches from a safe path on preview to execute a path that puts units in harms way on actual execution. Ridiculous! I keep waiting for one of the patches to fix this.             Ah, it's great fun, when my Macemen move to a target via a range of hills, as they get the defending bonus from them, but my Catapults take a different route, since they would not get the defence bonus...
