Anyone else noticing that automated workers on "Build Trade Network" will build forts instead of mines or plantations?

I had to dismantle a bunch of forts after I started wondering why I didn't have access to my abundant aluminum deposits.

Workers will build forts to collect resources outside of your city collection area.

Forts work like a non-growing, non-building city now.

In answer to the initial post:

Ugh, after playing an emperor game for hours, and enjoying civ more than ever, the crash came.. ugh. And reloading the game from saved files doesn't work either. It crashes pretty much in the same, or just about same, turn anyway.

The crash came a turn or two after I got that quest pop-up some time after having built Sid's Sushi company. I just needed crab to get the quest done. Noiw, I can't really say if it is related to the crash but...
AFter having spent hours of playing it leaves me a bit cold, but I hope Firaxis can fix issues like this.

Anyone know if I can send the file to Firaxis or so, to let them see if there's something that can be done?

I use Windows Vista, high performance computer with good graphics card, and run Norton... The details of my computer is not something I have in my head.

Yep. But you ought to at least get a brown and black pop-up screen like you do when you build the religious shrines (like Church of Nativity). Yes those are different types of buildings, but there ought to be something, it just lacks grandeur now.

Easily fixed with a Python script, however.

Aside from defense bonus, what's the difference between laying a fort or laying a tile improvement on that resource (like plantation or farm)?

            As for bugs:

I get a lot of messages that say "Deal Cancelled: Peace treaty with XXX " (or something to that effect) even though I did not have a peace treaty. What I believe it is saying is that some trade deal I have with XXX is being cancelled because I then get the pop-up head saying "We're through with this deal, and you too!"

When another civ initiates contact with me, the dialogue box will pop up, but the actual text in the dialogue box is delayed. The length of the delay is proportional to the size of map/complexity of game (e.g., later in years).

Legs are animated on units that are standing still

Every once in a while the AI moves a unit or units to a location and they just stay there, forever. Like they've been forgotten about.

Can build the military academy with Mil Sci.

Forts take longer to build than some improvements. If you ever settled a new city such that the fort/resource square was in its fat cross, you wouldn't get the improvement bonuses.

If it's outside of any city's radius, none. You still get access to that resource though you don't get any of the bonuses from having one of the regular improvements. Which, since it's not in any city, is no big deal.

I've seen that as well. My last game I had a Barb Archer park itself right next to my Archer and it did nothing for a long time. I didn't want to attack it myself since it was also on a Hill and the odds weren't very good. It did eventually move when I brought some Axemen towards it though.

Can build the military academy with Mil Sci.
That's been a bug since Warlords. I forget the tech requirement there, but it never mattered. I was always able to build an Academy at any time.

Sorry, but that's your bug, not a BtS one.

I noticed a new bug that if you give a unit goto orders who has no moves left, on the NEXT TURN AFTER it will cycle to that unit as if he has "woken up", even though he clearly has goto orders. If he is the last to move, the flashing end turn button will remain green also, so you don't know if there are more units to move. The only way to get through this it to either give him the same order again (in which case it will instead clear his order and then you have to give him the order a third time) or you have to click on some other unit and give it an order.

There are other little quirky new bugs with giving units orders after they have no moves left, like fortifying units in cities after you have skipped their turn.

I came across a new variation of the stuck Auto-Explore bug. I had a Galley that I sent off which got stuck near this northern island, going back and forth between the same two tiles. I moved it to another location and set it to auto-explore once again. It went right back to the spot where it originally got stuck. I sent it off to a spot even further away and set it to auto-explore yet again. It immediately went back to the original location where the problem began, then went back to moving back and forth between the same two tiles. Obviously auto-explore is severely broken, and I'm going to be forced to micromanage the units I send out.

                        bugs i've encountered so far:

                        1) sometimes the apostolic palace is not made obsolete by mass media/united nations. in my current game im having resolutions passed by the UN and the AP.

                        2) quests that give rewards to buildings (like +2 commerce to harbors, +2 EP to barracks, +2 beakers to libraries, etc.)see to award them arbitrarily. sometimes its to all present and future buildings. sometimes its just to ones i already have built. in one case, the library bonus was awarded only to the library in my capitol.

                        3) AIs will refuse deals, and then when asked "what would make this deal work" will propose and except a much worse deal.

There's one "bug" that has annoyed me since Civ vanilla, but with bts it's gotten a bit worse: Colors
The game needs to take a "look" at what civ colors are located where. In my current game I (Dutch), who started next to Russia and Japan. Japan is also pretty close to Carthage (now they share borders). The map has looked red'ish throughout the whole game
When looking at the info screen it was quite difficult to see which of the lines belongs to which enemy

Well... at least the two Persian empires have different shades of blue

Ok, it's not really a bug, but still quite annoying in situations like this
This space is empty... or is it?

                            Oh yes, I agree.

I (Russia, Cathrine) started on the same continent as Japan and it is often difficult to tell where their Shade of red ends and my shade of red begins

Just noticed something that probably should be filed under weird AI behavior:

In my current game there is Persia 1 and Persia 2. A long time ago Persia 2 was born (Persia 1 split in two). Persia 1 is the master of Persia 2. At the moment Persia 1 only has 1 city, while Persia 2 has 9 cities (and a higher score), but for some reason Persia 1 is still the master. Wouldn't this be the time where Persia 2 should start to revolt against their master. Considering that Persia 1's only city is close by (on some island) and Persia 2 has a larger army, they should quickly be able to take that city and become truly independent

The only reason why I haven't taken Persia 1 out of the game was because I couldn't be bothered to fight with Persia 2
This space is empty... or is it?

                                Although not unimaginable,
considering how small for example rome was and how big the empire over which it ruled (if one sees the roman provinces as vassals)
