Yes, America will be a colony from most European civs, etc. I don't know the exact civ/colony list. (I'm sorry Solver )

You can do that by first making a copy of your Warlords folder (and rename it in example into Warlords 2.08)
Als copy the Warlords folder in your My Documents\My Games\ folder.
Then install BtS. It'll update the normal Warlords folder into 2.13 and also offer you a 2.08 version of Warlords.
What if I have already installed BtS?
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Does SOL ring a bell? Re any current MP or saved games, at any rate. While we may have known that game updates mess with continuity, info that BtS updated vanilla & Warlords did not come timely for early BtS installers.

Another advantage to not having gotten BtS yet.

The best thing is de-install BtS and de-install Warlords.
Then install Warlords, patch it to 208, make a copy of the directory and rename it Warlords 208, etc.

I made the same mistake, and did it that way.
Maybe it's possible to just install another Warlords version, but that doesn't sound like the best thing to me.

Really? Wow that's wonderful. I always loathed to accept Capitulation when I conquered half of an enemy's empire, because the cities I got were nearly useless due to the vassal's culture choking them.

            • If you capture another civs cities on another continent, can you create a colony from those cities? Or do you need to found your own cities for them to be a colony?

You can create colonies out of captures cities.
You can also assign (captured) cities to your colonies.

                • Is colonies then like vassals or is it that a completely status? Will colonies (or vassals created from colonies) eventually be a completely independent civ?

Will vassals now give you their techs?

                        yes.

Yes, a colony is 'just' a normal vassal, except that it has a very positive attitude towards you.
They can become independant civs, like other vassals. But you have to make them pretty angry, since they start as happy vassals.

Not easily. But they will under the right circumstances.

                          • Does the new colonies feature make having big empires and achieving a domination victory much harder because of the increased maintenance of overseas cities?

                            Comment

                            • Depends on the map. On maps with numerous continents it's probably harder indeed, the colony costs do ramp up. Then again, there's nothing preventing you from liberating a continent after you conquer it...

Does a colony's land count towards a domination victory 100% or just 50% as with normal vassal states?
