Ok, I'm gonna show my weird side here, but it might be at least amusing to be able to force Catherine or Isabella to marry you after you destroyed their Civilization. :P

On a more serious note (not much though), I'd just like to have more interaction with AI leaders. They love to taunt and rub things in your face. It'd be nice to get some more satisfying payback then just destroying their last city and getting a small notification that their civ is gone. I'd like to see the misery in my rivals eyes as their Civilization crumbles to dust!

What you really need to do is grab the logic from some old video poker game and mod it in, so that each time you capture one of Catherine/Isabella's cities, she removes a piece of clothing.

Civ2 had a guillotine effect after you had won the game by conquest. The leader's graphic would show and their music would play, followed by a chopping sound and the guillotine coming down.

On a more serious note, it would be interesting to be able to set up political marriages and such to "merge" civs. It would even allow the more powerful to "force" such a thing. It's a step beyond Vassalage.

Or it could be a friendly type of thing. Both original civs would still exist, but now both have the ability to build culture building buildings in all cities in the merged empire. Both rulers could then go into a full cultural battle of who builds more in each city across the merged empire. This would also allow duplicate items(based on the one doing the building) to generate culture for one civ or the other.
Obviously then, those with such a situation really need to stay on top of their cities as they try to out-absorb the other.

Other additions that could be added to Civ 4 would be cultural details, such as your civ supporting polygamy, slavery(more than we currently see), matriach/patriarch type societies(player selects), city raiding for slaves, and more.

I would like to see cases where extreme unrest can cause a city to revolt

Didn't remember if it was Civ1 or Civ2... but it was nice... that should make a return
This space is empty... or is it?

In SMAC you got the punishment sphere animation and a scream, with the implication that the captured leader was tortured for the rest of time, or until rescued by a probe team .

No wonder they usually readily chose surrender .

But unfortunately it's always the same animation, you don't actually see the leader

There was a female and a male versio if I remember it right.
I'm not buying BtS until Firaxis impliments the "contiguous cultural border negates colony tax" concept.

I love the idea about civilizations merging and then trying to outdo each other culturally. This would add a nice realistic component to Civilization in that nations often did this and it would add internal conflict to Civilization. I'd love to see more internal conflict in Civilization like political power struggle, putting down rebellions, etc. I think this was done to some extent in earlier versions of Civilization but people were just annoyed by them (Democratic Senates, city unrest). Is there a way to make it not annoying?

Think of it as a reason to concentrate on keeping your people happy. A city that grows but has more unhappy people WOULD be a very bad thing.

One other idea I would love to see would be a "secondary production" queue for each city since larger cities should be able to have multiple things being made at the same time. So there could be a temple being built at the same time a military unit is being formed/trained. That sort of thing would add another dynamic, but also make it more dangerous when dealing with leaders that love to go to war.

Hmm, how about city sprawl? If the city is big enough to make two things at once, perhaps the city should take two squares instead of one. Perhaps as a balancing factor, you lose the resource of that extra tile?

City sprawl would take away from food production in a tile, but would probably add money and production generation on that tile, with the usual "special resources" still providing food value.

Other things which some have mentioned in older threads have mentioned wanting to have rail and roads their own systems, so a tile with railroad but no normal road would provide fewer benefits than a railroad+normal road.

For tech advances, I would like to see a difference between roads, stone roads, and the modern paved roads. At the least, going from paths to paved roads would be good, with a possible auto-improvement provided with another tech advance. Perhaps a highway tech advance would be available.

Looking forward, I would also like to see more "named" future technologies. Some might consider this too "science fiction", but we already have the space race, so that's not a good reason not to name certain ideas in the tech tree. I would also like to see more civic choices for the late game.

Back on track, the palace idea WOULD be nice to see again, since it could also be used during negotiations with other leaders. If other civs come to your palace, and yours is more advanced, they might be impressed, while the size would have a different effect on negotiations. As your tech advances, you could improve the look to a more elegant/modern place if your culture is high.

Ah well, these are just ideas to throw around while we wait for BtS anyway, I don't expect that Firaxis employees, or even beta testers would ever forward them on, even for Civ 5.

I could be wrong, but I believe that might already happen in BTS. The space race is going to be drawn out a bit, so that may mean more "named" future techs (at least for the near future).

I knew that(really I did), but for some reason(perhaps too much work), I didn't mention that what I want may be included in BtS. Work isn't good for me, I need to win Lotto and retire!
