Just ran across this and thought I'd pass it along as I didn't see it in any of the topics here:

Civ 5 has been announced - anyone see this yet?

- They didn't specifically mention C5 so I seriously doubt that it would be relased any time soon.
- Trip and Alexman have alrewady staated that a second XP will be/is being produced, so this report from GS can, and should, be interpreted to mean that CIVXP2 will be produced in the 2007 financial year
- CIV was 3 years in the making from the start of developemnt. That would equate to CIV developement starting when the last patch for vanilla C3 was produced. I'd be willing to bet that developement for C5 has started, but that it is no where near complete. Maybe they have *jsut* started coding some of it, but nothing more.

This is less an announcement for Civ 5 and more an announcement that Firaxis is developing something new. The article is sufficiently vague about the details, just that something new civ related is mentioned in the earnings report. It could be an XP for Civ 4, and in all likelihood it is.

Look at the Coming Soon Menu
This is where I first saw it, down at the bottom when you click on the Coming Soon Tab:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/index.html?tag=nav-top;pc&om_act=convert&om_clk=topnav
It doesn't link correctly so you have to select it yourself. Not sure how long it will stay on the top 10 list. It's currently number 7.

C5 is in a coming soon list, with no release date, and no details given at all about the game.
C5 is a given, like the fact that the sun will come up tomorrow and that FPS' are the domain of the ADD sufferer. I'd wait for some dent info before posting a thread on the issue. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

CivFanatics says this:
"Take-Two Announces Fiscal 2006 Financial Results
Newsposted by Thunderfall at Feb 28, 2007 11:01 PM
Take Two Interactive today announced the company's financial results for the full fiscal year which ended on October 31, 2006.
Net revenue for fiscal 2006 was $1.038 billion compared to $1.201 billion in fiscal 2005. Net loss for the year was $184.9 million or $2.60 per share compared to net profit of $35.3 million or $0.50 per share in 2005.
Take-Two blamed the downturn on a number of factors, including the game industry's transition to next-generation consoles, higher development costs for next-gen titles, and continued investment in 2K Sports. The company believes its investments into next-generation development and the sports business will have a positive impact on its current fiscal year results.
The press release mentioned that starting in fiscal 2008 (which begins Nov. 1 2007), "2K will have new content based on its Civilization franchise and other products, including both original intellectual property and third-party titles". This is most likely a Civ4 expansion pack, since it's too early for Civ5.
Thanks to Gunner for posting about it."
