I think you'd be surprised just how small the number of 'actual' testers is, and how 'up-to-date' Firaxis is on what testers are saying. At least 7 people who've claimed to be a tester on Poly or CFC really aren't.

Like I said, with the amount of rumours flying around, and how many people are claiming to be testers, I wouldn't believe a word of anything about the next XP unless it's on their website, or a major game site.

    Just my advice mate.

    • I have noticed one "trend" with XP's. Namely a gradual decline in the awesomeness of the opening movie.

Now the best all time Civ series movie has to be the original Civ III. You could just see the civilization advancing as the tower turned and climbed. And the music was also great. PTW just wasn't in the same league. There was scope increments but they didn't flow. Just several scenes stitched together. Conquests movie was just outright lame, but it did have nice music.

So fast forwarding to CIV and the movie is pretty good. It hangs together implyng a grandness, but it is stuck in an early era. No hint of the sweep of history and all that. And Warlords.... Do I have to say it? Just the preparation for one battle. No scope here. No image of grandness. And that that twerp flipping a sword is a welcoming screen? .NOT.

Based on past trends, I am afraid to think of how miserable XP2's movie could be.

So Firaxis, prove me wrong. Give me a movie that I want to play all the way through from time to time. Like I did with the original Civ III.
I used to be a builder. That was before I played Civ III

So who cares about opening movies? I watch them once then delete them from my hard drive, or disable them in the ini.

          • And the music got worse too!

            • Sorry, but the Civ2 opening, both movie and music, remains untouchable.

I have to agree. That was the best.

Well, the music lives on at least, since it was a variant of the Aztec theme.

                  • I totally agree with Frenzyfol about the supply lines and maybe about trade routes as well.

I didn't quite understand the term "strategy of denial", but I would like to see armies getting encircled my enemy and then destroyed after they run low on suplies. This would also make possible to use the scorched earth strategy, as the supply lines get longer and longer.

the trade routes would also be nice to cut, but maybe it should not be as easy as it was in Call to Power.

What if all the other civs in the game gave you AID like say Gold /FOOD or send all there workers automatically to help you rebuild from such disasters that would be so funny to watch it happen in a teamer

Well, there certainly isn't much teamwork in Civ right now. The other civs just want to supplant you. A peacenik victory might include such things, though.

                              • I've played most of the Warlords scenarios or at least a few turns of them. The only ones I haven't tried at all so far or the Vickings and the Barbs. My graphics card doesn't like the special Barb startup screen.
