Warlords Patch 2.08 Released!

I installed that patch, and now my PBEM file doesn't load.

"The file is read only to make sure you didn't change your Mods directory" (rough retranslation)

Is there a workaround for this?

The patch can now be downloaded from the Apolyton Directory as well. Yes, this is the official version, just like the one Jamie's opening post (now) links to. If you downloaded the patch earlier today or from some other website and it's less than 64 MB large, you will probably want to re-download it (and reinstall Warlords if you've already installed it as well), you don't have the latest/correct version. If it's larger than 64 MB you should have the correct version (it should actually be about 67 million bytes but depending on file format (exe, zip, rar) and method of rounding the exact number may vary a little).

As with previous Civ4 patches, you need to clear your admin password before upgrading. Did you do that?

When you have an admin password for your game, saves with a different checksum than what you have on your machine will not load (to prevent cheating).

No, and I didn't even know that. I'm still fairly new to Civ4 PBEM. I'm not the game admin, but your suggestion has been posted in our turn tracker, so I have hope things play out next turn.

So, I should re-install Warlords, open save, clear admin password, then play save, then pass on save, then upgrade.

Is that correct??

I suppose the patch doesn't include an updated SDK. Does anybody know when that will be released? (Locutus?)

I made a lot of small tweaks in the SDK and I don't want to play without them.

Yes, that would work, but then there would be no more admin password.

If you want an admin password, open the save with v2.00, save the game after clearing the password, then upgrade to 2.08, then load the game, then set the password again, then pass on the save.

hey alexman, i would really appreciate any input you would have regarding this problem i'm having with v2.08. with v2.00 i had changed the traits for Cyrus and put the new file in the customassets folder. with v2.08, b/c of the changed file in the customassets folder, the +50% production for workers doesn't work. even after removing the changed CIV4LeaderHeadInfos file the +50% production for workers was not there. the only way the +50% production for workers works is when i uninstall and reinstall warlords. so from what i can make out, if you put any changed files in the customassets folder you will no longer get the +50% hammers for workers from the expansive trait and have to uninstall/re-install to make the game work properly. is there any way to be able to make changes to files and still be able to get the +50% production for workers bonus? thanks in advance.

The +50% worker production for expansive is defined in Civ4UnitInfos.xml. If you have an old version of that file in your custom assets folder, you will not get the expansive worker change.

In fact, after you install the patch, it's best to clean out your custom assets folder completely and re-make whatever changes you had from the new 2.08 files. Otherwise you may miss other updates made by the patch.
