        Religious wars.

Maybe more micromanaging in terms of getting neighboring cities to flip to you (not just relying on cultural boundaries... maybe sending some sort of propoganda or settlers even in the ancient world, as well as more clandestine techniques).

Making resources limited (can only supply a certain number of cities or units).

Cities can ship grain to each other.

Being able to buy and sell weapons to other civs.

and of course, I'd put down thrice as much for civ5 if the boys just worked solely on a significantly smarter AI.
May it come that all the Radiances will be known as ones own radiances

Option to be a "spectator" and watch the AI build their cities, attack each other, etc, etc.

One thing I liked in MoO was the Generals/Assistants you could get. Each one had certain abilities/perfomance boosts for your military/society. I think that would be a great thing to add to the game.

So instead of just having static advisors, you'd be able to "hire" distinct people that would add something to your civilization. But they wouldn't be around forever, you'd need to choose new ones from time to time, or someone new would come along with traits that were more favourble to what you were trying to accomplish in your empire. Maybe even hire governors, each one adding a certain bonus to a city. Like one would be more science oriented, another more military etc.

Then take control of one civ.

That reminds me of an idea I came up with afew days ago: create your own AI. At the beginning of the game you can chose to have an AI play for you for x turns. You can set the AI to do things you prefer.

                  City priority:
                  High
                  Meium
                  Low

                  City spacing:
                  3-5 squares
                  5-8 squares
                  8+ squares

                  millitary priority:
                  high
                  medium
                  low

                  building priority:
                  high
                  medium
                  low

                  worker priority:
                  high
                  medium
                  low

                  research priority:
                  high
                  medium
                  low

                  research goal:
                  millitary
                  worker
                  balance

                  relgion priority:
                  high
                  medium
                  low

                  declare war:

I for one am thankful that the MM was reduced this much with Civ4. I hate too much MM, it's game breaking and tiresome. Kudos to Soren & co with the job done between Civ3 and Civ4.

                            I disagree.
The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
