Not sure which my favorite unit is, but my least favorite units are mounted units and the nuke... and of course the above mentioned aircraft carrier
This space is empty... or is it?

Fighters are only good for scouting for bomber targets, getting rid of intercepters before bombers attack, and intercepting. That makes Carries usless since Fighters offensive roles need Bombers.

        Favourite unit? Fast worker.

Favourite flavour unit? Cossack. I love how they look like Elbonians.

I don't agree. I think you are another Apolyton civver who just doesn't get the joys of modern age warfare.

Carriers loaded up with fighters and especially jet fighters are superb for bombing enemy resources especially if the enemy is on another continent. While you invade with marines, tanks etc, your fighters bomb specials, mines, and other improvements which reduces the enemy's productive capacity, makes citizens unhealthy and unhappy, etc.

Loaded up in the same square as destroyers and battleships, carriers become near invincible. And you can instantaneously rebase a fighter to any carrier in the world in one turn.

They are awesome for destroying an enemy's economy.

Are fighters and Jet Fighters decent bombers?

No, they are somewhat INdecent bombers, but they sorta work.
Against single enemy units, I prefer to use fighters rather than bombers.

Another advantage of aircraft carriers is they are mobile! If your offensive is moving along a coastline (or close inland), your carrier-based aircraft are often not delayed by rebasing.

No big reason, ElConejo. They just have less chance of success in bombing the tile.

I love modern war. Just you arn't using fighters the I do. When attacking a nation on another continent I will take a large army over by ship, take a city quickly then move in some fighters and bombers. Carriers will be have no important role until the naval game is improved. I do belive that fighters (including jets) have little use as as bombers.

Now there is one air unit missing Fighter-Bombers. Now Bombers are becoming usless since they have no abillity to dog fight so most of bombers abilities have have been given to fighters. There is currently no tech for this but the game goes 2050 (not 2000 like the current tech make it seem) so Firaxis should add 3-5 techs to the end game.

Seals. They look so awesome I modded them an attack bonus.

Also Impi and War Chariots are soooo incredible for quick ancient warfare, especially with the uber incredible traits of Rameses and Shaka.

Another vote for Praetorians. They do for Rome what the crappy legion unit couldn't in Civ3. Nothing brings out the warmonger in me quite the way a nice stack of Praetorians does.

For flavor: Nukes. I love the mushroom cloud graphic.

Cossacks. or least until they nerfed them in Warlords.
If you beeline to them they have a long shelf life and nothing stands up to them if you give them the gunpowder promotion. Add the mobility and the AI doesn't have a chance.
