No, they'll probably go in order with additions to the Medeival/Renaissance eras. Industrial/modern will be dealt with in a 3rd XP.

Except that there's no real trade routes. In times of war, you should be able to park your ships along a civ's shipping lanes and pick off any ships that come along carrying goods to some foreign port. That in itself would add alot to the maritime aspect of the game. Civs would be forced to actually use navies to protect their trade routes.

So what's to stop them hard-coding the basic mechanics of the "central granary" system, and then defining the system's effects, particulars, associated costs, etc. through new XML files?

What about a new religion feature, excommunication. It wouldn't cause the nation to switch religons, but it would cause unhappiness. The only justifible resons for excommunication would be excessive wars with nations with the same religon and spreding another religon.

Re: religion, they could have religious schisms, one per religion. Xianity splits to Catholics and Protestants, Islam to Sunnis and Shi'ites... Taoism?

Or, call the expansion "Crusades", and make religious civs team up to take out other religions.

And being able to expel a religion from your city is important. Under, say, Theocracy, other religions could cause unhappiness points.

I like the idea of food trading, but it should require refridgeration. I know that that is a really late tech, but it's realistic. The idea of eating fresh fruits and veges every day is a decidedly 20th century idea. Maybe a few nobles got the occasional foreign delicacy, but the masses ate whatever the farmers in the area could grow.

By making food trading come so late, a lot of the game balance issues disappear. Of course so do most of the benefits.

There's plenty of places up in the deep north that are mining some valuable resource (Uranium, oil, diamonds), but without food importing they could not exist. And none of these places did exist 100 years ago.

What about Coast Gaurd as a natioal wonder. It increases your naval units strength within your borders, and lets your coastal borders extend 4 squares. It would require Combustion.

                    That's an excellent idea, IMHO.
I'd also like to be able to build some sort of tile improvement in the ocean that extended your view into the fog by a few tiles beyond your border... actually, I'd like the same for land too. Further techs could increase the range.

I dont suspect that there will be a second expansion.

                      WYSIWYG.

But we can always make the wish list for CIV5 and mod community.

Of course there'll be another expansion! Civ 4 has been a real money maker for Take 2, they're not going to miss any opportunities for making more from it.

Besides, why would they add so many new traits if they're not going to add more civs/leaders. There's all sorts of possible combinations now that aren't being used. They could have got away with just one, maybe two new traits, for the additions they've included.

Err, you don't think that the box itself calling Warlords:

"The First Expansion Pack For the Award-Winning Sid Meier's Civilization IV"

is a pretty good hint that there will be at least one more on the way?

(Ah, perhaps different countries have different packaging - this is the top of the backside of the US box - in big, capital letter...)

Food was traded well before refridgeration. Perhaps you have heard of the great invention of salt?

Though perhaps salt could be a new resource and you'd need salt to transport food (think of it as transporting fish or hams or something)

                              NO!!!

what alot of you are suggesting in regards to resouce use and food sharing and other rediculus ideas would break the game and add so much tedium unless you were REALLY into it it would in effect break the game

er, i dont recall it breaking CIV1. . . where it was a feature.

I cut my teeth of CIV 1 IIRC on Playstation and I have stated many times, I miss where you had a caravan and it could transport food or production to help build a wonder or even trade a good.

I think it is very realistic, you have a BIG CITY like Chicago Illionois and a small community 500 miles away, you ship food there and it helps it grow

It doesnt seem that far fetched of an idea.

                                Or concept.

Im not a programmer or designer or modder but it "seems" to be fairly simply to me.

I also liked the idea discussed earlier about "X" Granaries built then you could build a Big Granary" which could then say take any waste from various cities or even maybe say each city set on a contribution of a certain percentage of their total production efforts and send to this "Food Bank" or whatever you want to call it and then cities say with poor land around them could be given "%" whatever you decided upon and help that city grow.

I would add that where yo have Capitalization or gold , science and whatever the third is add one for food so that a fat city could for a few turns produce excess food, along the lines of Harvest time. I am a country boy and back in the 1960's I picked potatoes during August and September (no school, everyone worked then) and then later Blue berry Harvesting, (same deal, no work, just harvest crops)

I really dont think its out of the question
