grrr. oh well, patch in the works I assume.

just a note to profit-driven little business badgers, quality has a meaning other than the one used wildly by the marketing section. look it up in a dictionary.
I wouldn't go that far. It's pretty much stable out of the box with the exception of the sound oddities, which is far better than I can say for most PC games that I've purchased recently.

And I can play it with Radeon 9600, which is far better than I can say for most PC games that I've purchased recently. (copy paste )
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

This is a top notch product that stands way above the rest. Well worth its price and more. This product is undeserving of such gripes.

Looking up Quality btw in the dictionary will do nothing to inform one of what Quality 'is'. You can start by reading up on CARs, PARs, Statistical Process Controls, Root cause analysis, fishbone, etc. I can suggest some good books if you need a QC primer.

From the replies in here.... and the number of units sold you would find the reported failures to be far below even the smallest value on the C=0 AQL sampling chart.

The only thing we should be 'demanding' is that they pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

I put regularly throughout the game... because I've definitely had it before 1900... but I won in space race in 1944... I was playing on an easy level to practice the new version, so probably just got the broken units earlier.

OK, last night after clearing the cache twice I still heard the sound, so it appears this fix doesn't quite entirely take care of the problem. It appears to have been reduced perhaps, but not removed entirely.

The sound to SAM Infantry needs to be fixed. Apparently, I use headphones - then to suddenly hear a loud sound (the rocket fire) -- that gets annoying.

KyuuA4 - read the thread pages 1 and 2 - as the thread title says, the fix to this problem is to be found within.

I am baffled as to why it doesn't seem to work for monkspider - I myself have had NO occurances of the sound after editing the XML file; and I've had at least a few games with plenty of SAM's in them since.

I was under the impression that I was the only person with this issue. Thank god I'm not alone..

My initial asumption was that it was because I run Civ4 Warlords on Windows x64 and the drivers for this OS are a bit lacking.

In fact... Civ 4 is the ONLY game I've been able to run on Windows x64's emulation layer without serious graphics issues so kudos to the programmers at Faraxis/2k for an excellent bit of programming genious.

Other than this "sporadic blast of noise" bug, the game has been a complete and total joy to play.

As far as my sound card:

Nvidia Nforce Audio (built into the MB: Asus A8N SLi Premium)

                      Other info:

                      CPU: Athlon 64 X2
OS: Windows XP Pro x64 Edition

                      Mods: None

Notes: I almost always hear a yawning sound right after or during the noise blast.

EDIT: Aplied fix... curently testing... so far so good...

I, too, run XP x64 and still have the occassional odd noise after editing the xml file. Also, have had trouble getting enough volume (except for Nimoy) ever since I got this new computer last spring. In addition (and this probably doesn't belong in this thread), I get closed out to the desktop when I first start a saved game and activate map grid before playing a turn or two.

I didn't seem to get this when I first got warlords, but lately I seem to get it more. But still only once or twice a game. It's still a rare occurance for me, but still annoying nonetheless.

For those who still have the problem after trying the fix, are you running the game in 3D mode or 2D mode? The fix here applies ONLY to the 3D sound(from the file name).

                            This is just a thought.

I've now played enough games late enough to verify that I no longer have the problem. Thanks.

where is the fix (I know it's probably someplace in this thread, but I don't see it)?

This problem seems to occur more and more lately.
