My guess is that Monuments aren't religious buildings.

Don´t know if it is a bug or should be this way:
The great wall keeps barbs from entering your borders (which of course is no bug ) but once inside of them, they can move and pillage around freely.
Happened to a bunch of barbarian archers. While they stood just outside of my cultural borders (small island, there was little place to stand somewhere else ) my cultural borders expanded, so that the barbs suddenly were located inside of my cultural borders.
The result was that they moved around within my territory and razed tile improvements (O.K., they just managed to destroy one of my quarries before my cossacks were able to finish them, but they could have done more damage if I had let them continue)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

But it could be that I´m wrong.
After reading some postings within a thread dedicated to the great wall in the Civfanatics forum:
Well, I liked the Great Wall in Civ 3, and I thought the perimeter Def would be more useful and realistic this game...but...gosh..it's near useless! I suppose the Great General pct% upgrade is nice...but a wall is hardly a candidate for upgrading tactics. Barbs are generally never a problem...
it looks like the reason for the barbs entering the civ borders was just that the cities weren´t located on the continent where I built the great wall.
As I saw them 2 turns before the incident, approaching my cultural borders, it is possible, that, even if my borders hadn´t expanded just the moment that the archers were next to them, the archers would have entered nevertheless, even without any expansion of the borders.
So if this is true, IMHO this would make it an "undocumented design feature", as AFAIK it isn´t mentioned within the description for the great wall, that it only works on the same continent.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. ... So what part is "undocumented"?

My fault.
As it wasn´t documented within the manual (at least the german version of the manual I have) I assumed it wasn´t documented within the game (and therefore didn´t check)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
