No, non-planting is good. It forces the player to be judicious with his/her chop rushing.

That's just Firaxis having fun being sarcastic. Read the Civilopedia. It's knee-slapping hilarious.

      My nit-picks:

      1. It's cool how workers are wakened no matter what they're doing when an enemy unit is nearby, but what if that unit is a horseman? (This has happened to me many times.)

      2. Civ A and Civ B are in a war. Civ A wants me to help them. I say no. They persist. I refuse again. THEY DECLARE WAR ON ME. I nearly obliterate them, allying with Civ B. They ask for peace. However, Civ A and B don't make peace, and CIV A ASKS FOR HELP IN THE WAR AGAINST CIV B, and the entire process repeats.

      Not really realistic, huh?

      3. The Church of St. Paul? What about the Church of the Holy Sepulchur?

      4. I make a city. I name it Washington D.C. I don't win.

      5. Isabella. She disgusts me.

      6. Life Expectancy. For some very strange reason, I can have 7 frickin billion health bars, and 2 unhealthy faces, and I'm STILL in last place for Life Expectancy.

      7. Convertion. The Civ I want to convert can be my best friends, we can be trading all of our junk to each other, I can even tribute them everything I have, every last penny in my coffers, and give them all I got and do whatever they say.

I go to the trading screen. I want them to convert to my religion but it's RED.

      What does it say?

We just don't like you enough.

NOTE: ISABELLA WILL NEVER CONVERT TO YOUR RELIGION. EVER. DON'T TRY IT. SHE'S A B*TCH. (Refer to complaint #5)

I'm diggin' the anachronological diplomatic musings. The better example: "Negotiate this, pal!" (Julius Caesar).

Although Alexander never said such things, I think it's fair to guess that he would have, had he been conquering Mesopotamia with the American, rather than Macedonian armies.

And it's fun, besides. Another goodie: "I may be a pacifist, but I'm not an idiot. The war shall continue," (Gandhi).

Some stuff bothering me from the current game I'm playing:

            1) Galleys after Astronomy...I don't know how many times I've tried to build a Galleon and clicked on the rather obsolete Galley by mistake. Why don't these go away? I've made this mistake often enough I could swear the computer must be changing my production.

            2) Wolves. Unlike other wild animals, wolves seem to cut right for your units at all costs.

            3) Montezuma. Once he goes to war, he expects something from you to declare a peace treaty, even when he's losing. He declared war on me from another land mass, and we're just shooting each other's boats down, getting nowhere. I imagine he must be overrun with war weariness, but he refuses to sue for peace.

            4) Lone neighbors. You can go for alphabet, expecting to trade your buddy for iron working, but they will refuse for all time, until you make contact with another civ, simply because there's no competition for their tech.

            5) Red stuff on the diplomacy screen. I should be able to convince others to relent on certain things when I offer overwhelming contributions on my side of the table. I can't even give them 8 different resources, a hefty lump sum, 3 techs and a border city??

            6) Sentry on naval units. Sentry is supposed to be the option to reduce micromanagement by sleeping the unit until an enemy unit draws near. Yet if a boat that moves more than 2 spaces simply goes PAST my boat, like a caraval zipping past my galleon blockade, I get a brief map notice it's moving and then out-of-sight out-of-mind.

            7) End of turn. When I have only 1 or 2 moves to actually make because all my other units are on automate, automove or fortify, I should be prompted for end of turn even if I don't have that feature enabled. See previous point.

            8) Watching battles. When you have a battle where, graphically, you see 3 dudes against 3, and two go down on one side, and then the last one knocks down his first opponent, he seems to ALWAYS go on to kill all three.

            9) Ironclads. Is two movement and inability to go into ocean enough to do ANYTHING with? I mean, yeah, Galleys work that way too, but galleys are a tier 2 tech, and ironclads come from a much later age when boats simply move faster.

            10) Did I mention the thing about galleys and galleons? I just built another one. Argh.

If you are into realism (which I am not, but I know some are), tie it to an industrial age technology. And let forests be planted and grown like cottages, that can't be speeded up. Let it produce nothing (sic, nothing, not even food) for like 50 turns. You shouldn't disturb a tree shool, should you? Only after that it is a forest. Can't be exploited, and makes up for the shields gained while chopping.

              Any more arguments against reforesting?

The things I can't stand are:

1.War Weariness. Recently the Mongols declared war on me. Back in Rome my people were unhappy when Kaublai Khan refused to talk. They blame me for a war I didn't start and I can't stop it either.

2.Forests. You can't cut them down until Bronze Working, so I can't farm or mine squares with forests until Bronze Working. The ancient British were cutting down forests long before they could use bronze with flint. Also you can't plant forests. Some people are saying that forests have only been planted recently. William the Conqueror ordered that a forest be planted in England 900 years ago.

3.Diplomocy. You can't ruin a friendship when the AI refuses to go to war, covert religions, or adopt civics becuase they won't let you request them. You should be aloud to put things in red yourself.

This I do agree with. Although I understand why they invented the red-diplomacy--to prevent humans from over purchasing favors. But then again, how many of us would put red on our civics and religion, thus never allowing AIs to become offended at our intransigence.

Afterall, if Isabella makes an unreasonable demand that you convert to Hinduism and you turn her down flatly, isn't that like you finding her conversion redded out and getting all militarized-type pissy?

As might be said: "Red diplomacy options are for hippies!"

No, because she can keep on annoying you ever two turns until you just agree just to freaking shut her up.

The reason the game puts things in red is to help the player - Red means there is absolutely no way on earth, in hell, or the skies above, that this deal will take place, NO MATTER WHAT (at this time ). Just because something is in white doesn't mean it's easy to trade for, it means that it is TRADEABLE.

This could also mean that even if something is in white, and you click "What can I offer you for this?" your opponent will say "That isn't possible," etc, because they know that what they want for this is something you will never give them.

A good example is "Declare War On." It could be in white, but when you click on "What can I offer you for this?" your opponent doesn't put up anything. You have to keep on loading everything you have until they agree to it.

I would love an option to recall the recent events list. You know, the "Elizabeth has declared war on Mansa Musa!" notices, and such. There have been times where I've been so preoccupied with doing something else that I haven't noticed my ally has declared war on my next door neighbor until I see their units rolling through my territory en masse.

I agree - this makes perfect sense. It's not entirely realistic, but then, neither is chopping.

The reason the game puts things in red is to help the player - Red means there is absolutely no way on earth, in hell, or the skies above, that this deal will take place, NO MATTER WHAT (at this time ). It would be interesting to go into worldbuilder and give the human player an extra, say, 100,000 coins, and then see if the red options are still red.

I'd like to see a 'shadow' option for naval units - so long as your unit is at least as fast as the AI unit, it would be cool if you could follow it around. I like to keep tabs on those 20+ unit nautical stacks.

I'd love an option to have an alert when enemies cross over into my territory, that or make them stand out with a red aura glow.

It seems a bit ridiculous to me that, if you capture the founding city for a religion, you still can't make missionaries from that city because you lose all the cultural-related buildings. I think there should be an exemption for the monestary in those seven cities, if captured.
