The icon for marines has an M16 in it, although ingame marines are actually holding AK-47s.

If this was a "best nitpick" contest, you would win.

The City Information screen often has the build information cut off on the right side. It would be nice if there was either a scrollbar on the screen, or the font size adjusted to compensate.

It's VERY difficult to click on a city's information bar to add something to it's que without having to double-click on the city center and go into the full city screen, much of the time. There appears to be a lot of natural interference from improvements near where the information bar would theoretically be located in space, and even moreso from any units that might be sitting right in front of the city. I'm often having to search around for a long while to find the "sweet spot," or having to rotate the screen 45 degrees before finally giving up and just entering completely into the city screen.

I have come to realize that pressing the [Insert] key is much more convenient and reliable. Opens city screen of the 'most' central city in view.

Enemy ships going all over my coastline, dribbling all of my warships and unloading dozens of troops right in front of my cities. Hello?? Ever heard of COUNTER-ATTACK? If I see an enemy seaship, mine should automatically prevent them from entering, or at least slowing them down. SMAC had a very interesting concept, if you had a specific pattern of units all over the field, an enemy unit couldn't enter this "force field" because of an obvious lack of chances to survive, if surrounded by enemies. Computer shouldn't be able to:

            XXXOXXX
            XXXCXXX
            XXXXXXX

Just going through and get into C. What kind of strategist would do that?
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Yeah I really miss zones of control. I hate seeing an enemy tank shoot right past 4 tanks standing around and capture a worker (I am talking civ3 here but it should still apply) People always said how ZOC were "broken" but I never really understood how.

wasn't broken for the human player. It worked just fine. .

In fact, it worked better in civ3, than in civ4. At least armies could get in a shot of units passing by.

I want the ability to negotiate 'dividing the spoils of war' with my war allies (rather than having the person who just happened to be the one dealing the death-blow get it).

There was once a key city I wanted right by my border. It was well fortified and both my ally and I were attacking it for several turns. Since it was his unit that eventually got it and since it was so far away from his territory, he decided to raze it. I would have been nice if we could have agreed somehow beforehand that I'll get this city if/when it get captured (and in return I'll give him something). It was so annoying.

Only after that it is a forest. Can't be exploited, and makes up for the shields gained while chopping.

                      Any more arguments against reforesting?

The working quarry animation has the arm of the crane moving but in the shadow it's static.

There is no animation for cottages to show the ones being worked - unique amongst improvements.

I want to be able to 'red' things in diplomacy so that when I say, what do you want for sailing (for example) the AI knows what stuff I'll consider trading with and which stuff I won't.

You can get the circumnavigation bonus without ever even building a ship - I've got before without ever even having a costal city! I think in the new patch the AI won't trade maps till the award has been won, but I could be wrong.

I used to think this way too, but recently I have come to appreciate how Civ rewards people who pay close attention.

Yeah attention is great, but you would think someone in the city would alert the "mayor" if 15 elephants just stepped onto a cottage.

They do, you get the unit in that red circle pointing off screen to where it has attacked, but while paying close attention to what tech to research next, and what to build next in your capital city, the circle disappears after 3 seconds and you don't know you've been attacked until it's too late.

This drives me crazy - especially on Huge maps. I'll spend 5 minutes hunting for the marauding enemy unit, only to realize that it's a Caravel cruising (mostly)harmlessly along my coast.

It would be nice if there was an option to have the red circles persist until clicking on them.
