  • IGN Reveals the Six Civs+MORE!

Here is some of the big new info that we learn
    ----The Six new civs are
    Korea- Wang Kon
    Turks- Mehmed II
    Zulus- Shaka
    Vikings- Ragnar Lodbrock
    Carthage- Hannibal
    Celts- Brennus

Rameses II was also confirmed to be Egypt's leader.

Apparently all the UUs are the same as in Civ III, except the Turks now get the jannisary. Looks like the Babylonians, Byzantines, Iroqouis, Sumerians, and others will have to wait until the next expansion. A smart move on Firaxis' part to hold back some of their most popular civs.

There is a lot of info on warlords, unique buildings, vassal states, and more! Check out the article.

So far Warlords is shaping up to have an unprecedent amount of content.

The only disappointing news for me so far is that they have not used the best leader choices for the new civs. Vercingetorix for the Celts, Suleiman for the Turks, and Sejong for Korea. Instead they used the same mediocre choices from PTW, save for Mehmed instead of Osman, which is admittedly an improvement. I guess it is not impossible that we may see some of these guys in a different future XP.

I am excited to see some of these new UUs. Korea's h'wacha should translate much better into Civ IV than it did into Civ III, and who doesn't want to see a Civ IV interpretation of Impis and Beserkers.

      Great news overall.

what bothers me is that we see the same civs in each xp. It makes it feel to me as if they're just repacking the same old thing. I say this with gusto SUPRISE ME!!

Not a bad list of civs. As for the leaders (take note monkspider ), it seems that in the spirit of the expansion they picked the greatest generals/conquerors. So Mehmed II, who took Constantinople wins over Suleiman (though Suleiman did expand the empire). Wang Kon was known as a good general and unifed the Three Kingdoms. Brennus I sacked Rome, while Brennus II sacked Greece (not sure which one is picked), while Vercingatorix, even though he led the Gallic revolt, was beaten down by Julius Caesar.

The vassal state feature sounds (unsurprisingly) like a welcome graft from Alpha Centauri. You didn't have to beat your opponents into dust, you could make them submit and sign a pact to serve you.

                    I second that.

Mehmed II was obviously the leader of the Ottoman empire, not the Turk empire - during Mehmed's rule it's referred to as the Ottoman empire.

But why include a pushover "civilization" like the Celts and not the Babylonians? Well it's just a game.

Babs will probably be in the next XP.

I like the concept of Vassal States. But this XP is clearly designed for warmongers, starting with the Warlord unit. Even if they said that peaceful players don't have to worry, I'll wait for more info about the game...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.
