Too bad this is a poll for what civs you want to have, and not the ones you think will come, you'd be worshipped for that post then Solver. Of course, we already know the Vikings will be in.

Well, I could always post the ones I thought were coming before I found out which ones really are in .

I voted for the Austrians. I was then shocked to discover that I was the first to do so.

Based on the 19th century and thereafter I wouldn't have considered putting them in. Go back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries - before Muscovy emerged as a nation intent on having a say in European affairs - and the Hapsburgs were the major European power - for a time controlling Spain, Portugal, most of Italy, the Low Countries, Burgundy and Hungary. As well as an Austria with a much greater land area than it has today. Finally, the Holy Roman Emperor was regularly from the Hapsburg family.

Of course they lost all of this and declined as all empires do. But as long as France and Spain are in the game I see no reason why Austria shouldn't be (this goes for people wanting to have the Dutch and Portugal added as well).

I'm really glad that you've taken the effort to become a qualified historian of my posts.

Oy veh, this thread has gone far afield!
I guess that's Shiva's goal in life though.

Anyway, I'm still holding out for Babylon in the expansion. If it's not, I think I'll lose my mind.

Oops. I meant to vote for them too. See one of my posts above for why.

I voted for the Ottoman Turks. I think they've played a pretty big role in history, at least bigger then most of the other choices.

I just hope that more expansions, or later editions in the Civ series don't just add civilizations because they can. I would rather there be more leaders then just civilizations, I think it sort of takes something away from having the notion of playing distinct and important empires if Sid Meier just throws in Ireland because he well...can.

I really think the Turks ought to be in. Especially in Warlords ...
