I'm not sure what he is on either. There are less buildings and wonders in Civ IV then there were in Civ II. Civ II had everything in needless excess. His post is just a troll.

Late-game units that I would like to see:

1: A light, fast vehicle for recon (14/3, available with Industrialism, starts with Flanking I).

2: A Cruiser unit (32/6--Destroyer would be weakened to 24)

3: A Nuclear Sub (28/5, available with Fission--the regular Sub would be moved a little earlier in the tech tree and be weakened to 20/4)

      4: A cruise missile (40/operating range 8; 35% city bombard, collateral damage).

Also I would like to see the Trebuchet available somewhere around the same time as Longbowmen and have stats of about 8/1.

Quote Urban Ranger : What are you on?

They removed the spy (restricted it massively, to be more precise), the diplomat, the camel (bah), and the engieer, for starters.

Have you ever played Civ III in your life ? Clearly not dude..... have you ever heard about Nuclear Subs , AEGIS Cruisers, Cruise Missiles etc.. ?

Not that anyone might want facts intruding on the discussion, but Civ2 had 28 Wonders. Civ4 only has 26 Great Wonders, but also 12 National Wonders and 7 Religious Shrines.
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

                    facts are meaningless.

As for modern naval units. The modern age moves so fast, I'm not sure they are needed except for aesthetic reasons. As it just makes sense to have frigates, destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers, battleships, amphibious assault ships etc, nuclear submarines etc. I can't see having any more modern naval units than that. And as I said, it's too many to be of any practical use outside a modern or ww2 scenario.

You're not going to learn very much about the game just playing some turns of the demo. You should withhold your judgements until you've played through a few full games. Unless of course your only intention is to criticize.
Using that logic, why bother with demos? The point of a demo is to try a game and see if you like it. To slag someone off because they're basing their opinion on the demo is just unbelievable.

Not just some turns, but at least a few games.

It's rash to formulate an opinion about a game when you played only a couple of hours. Okay, there are exceptions, but even with The Sims it took me a day or two to get bored.

Gunter can't have possibly played the game through to the Modern Age anyway because the demo has a time limit.

It's just as unbelievable to slag a game just by playing a little bit of the demo. To tell whether you'll like it or not is one thing, but to come up with a critique of the whole game based on such limited experience is another.

I played the Civ series since the first one and i played every , I highlight EVERY , SID game ever done since today , starting from games that maybe you havn't even heard about.....therefore I am entitled to comment Civ IV demo.

I do not want to convince you or someone else, I have expressed my opinion and beeing it different from yours, young men, this is not a reason to tell me I am doing wrong in bad judging what is no more a Civ game.

This trhead it's quite pointless and I would like to terminate here, I only hope SID won't repeat himself in his upcoming Railroad game already underway because Railroad Tycoon it was like the Gioconda of Leonardo and making the same error done with Civ IV ( changing the whole game devastating it ) it would be pathetic.
