Philosophical, industrious, financial, organized are all pretty good traits.

I find expansive and spiritual to be less useful.

I like the Indians with Asoka, odd since India was my least-favorite civ in CIII. I like the traits and the starting techs. If gold or gems are nearby you can start accessing them right away.

Did you know that (the real world) India never had a bronze age? They went straight from stone to iron. Not possible in this game.

I like the French, too. They have a bad rap because of WWII, but we forget all the military successes in France's past: Charles Martel at Poitiers, Jeanne d'Arc at Orléans in the Hundred Year's War, Condé at Rocroi in 1640-something, and of course, the Napoleonic era. Until 1870 the French military was the model of the world. But anyway, it doesn't matter, because I play the French with Louis XIV, and go for a cultural victory.

I prefer Mongols - Kublai Khan.

        Aggressive/Creative is too much fun

I just eat up all that rapid post-rebellion expansion and early city defense.
