  • Pleasant Little Suprises

I was floored when I heard Leonard Nimoy quoting Lou Reed (Velvet Underground) when I discovered "Radio" technology. How cool is that!?

I also was pleasantly suprised to hear a quote from the song "Rock Island Line" when I discovered "Railroad".

Just a couple of the little things that help make this game great.

      I like the Sputnik quote
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

"Lightning a bonfire under a ships' deck" must be my favourite. You actually hear emotion in his voice.

I remember hearing "Rock Island Line" on a 45rpm record back in the 50s!

Man, you've been around for awhile haven't you? Nice to see another old fogey like me playing Civ. Though I'm guessing you have a few years on me. I do remember seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show however.

I remember "I like Ike" buttons, though my parents, as good southern-born democrats sported Adlai Stevenson buttons.

I was lucky enough to see Johnny Cash perform the song live in concert in 1994.

The game is too American for my taste.
