Yes, some testing is going to happen close days in CFC thread with my next release. I will post here too when it's ready to try. Its primary aim will be addressing leader heads problem and (I hope) a movie problem.

Thanks man. I prefer "Spreading Fixarism" (link to the patch). Missionaries get their line in credits zone with final version.

Somehow I have never found spams to be terribly persuasive. In fact, I doubt the integrity of this fix BECAUSE it has been spammed so hard.

What I want is confirmation from Firaxis that this is ok. Or someone I have learned to trust to confirm that it's ok.

Well, CFC and Apolyton are top-most official fan-sites for civ4. And CFC has posted a link to my fix on the main page in their 'news' section for 8th December (see www.civfanatics.com).

I wasn't active forum member at CFC before writing this patch, and currently 99% of my posts are about solving civ4 technical problems. So, isn't this a considerable level of trust by putting a link to my fix on the page which most visitors of 2kgames open seeking for some help?
There is nothing personal in the call I made, Harkonnen604. After all, we have never met or talked before, so how could there be?

I've just been around Internet games too long to trust a stranger. I have no doubt that your patch fixes the problems, but not knowing you, how can I tell what else it might do? I'm not a programmer.

Think it through dispassionately, from a distance, and consider the original meaning of Trojan Horse.

I do have to admit to one piece of personal bias - I identify more with House Atreides than Harkonnen.

That's because you have misspelled that religion name (read the name given to it more attentively...)

Well, I understand your worries. I had arguments like that from one of CFC forum members. You may check post #27 at the page2 of original CFC thread. There I gave some arguments which can probably decrease such worries.

Anyway, if you do not have critical problems with the game (for me it was critical sluggishness, for others critical CTDs) - yes, there is no need to "risk" as soon as it is a risk from your point of view.

As for "way too much spamming about the fix", I had reply #9 at this thread
Basically, I was shocked as well looking how people whom I don't know post the link anywhere they can find just because it helped them...

I didn't take it personal and I hope you do not too. Merry Christmas!

Well, we'll see whether Firaxism spreads better than Fixarism!
I mean, Even Apolyton's running Organised Firaxism, we got CATHEDRALS. All you've got is a Temple.

                    • Does this fix do anything for people with uber computers? I have an AMD 4000+, 2 gigs of ram, and a geforce 6800gt and the only problems with the game I have are that globe view is slow, I had one CTD a while ago (in 50 hours of playing), and before 1.09 I had to downgrade drivers to get rid of glitches...

Current version of the fix does not solve this yet (and sometimes makes globe view to run slower). However, the problem has been found, and it is going to be fixed with newer release of my fix.

You may want to register at forums.civfanatics.com and subscribe to this thread - there I will post a message when the update is ready for download.

so the patch is just to reduce page file usage for people with <512 or 1024 megs of ram then? In that case I would not need it, but look forward to your globe view patch.

I was just wondering if there were any graphical improvements or performance improvements other then memory usage.

Currently these are memory usage fixes, and I wrote it being trapped in 512Mb as it's the limit of my own motherboard.

I was expecting that my fix will be primarily useful for me and others with 512Mb of RAM, but when I released it, a lot 1Gb people said their thanks. Someone got performance improvement, someone had CTDs gone, someone had both.

Very few got new problems, but primarilty these were either very low-end specced machines or people who made "evil tweaks" before like turning off AGP or reducing pixel/vertex shaders version.

Only players with 2Gb of RAM usually had no benefits from my fix, still some of them started crashing more rarely.

                            • I'm going to give this a whirl. I have 512 megs of ram. Though I've never had a CTD. And I never had any problems with the wonder movies until after the patch. Though turning the graphics settinds down to low has corrected the wonder movie problems and allowed me to play large and huge maps. I'm going to turn graphics back up and try this mod.

Would this patch fix my issue which is either my monitor going on standby ( and i have to manually reboot) or my system just re-boots all by itself !!!
As after playing a few weeks now im kinda getting a bit sick of it
