  • I assume you are ready to play, ugignadl?

We can all see what his problem is: he is a munchkin. Pure and simple. The type who wanted to play D&D, and thought roleplaying was what you did when you pretended to be a legendary hero with amazing equipment---before even playing your first session. The type who likes to find loopholes in game mechanics and exploit them, continually. When he can't win, and can't find a loophole he whines about it. There's no sense in debating his points: he will always be correct, because there must be something intrinsically flawed if he can't find the exploit that always allows him to win.
Munchkin? Actually I'm about average...5'10" 170LBS. I weight lift religously and my diet is measured down to the exact calories and nutrient ratios. That was a nice try though with the D&D thing...bit predictable though and lacking on the originality. A better one would have been to try to paint me as one of those black metallica T-Shirt wearing losers that sits around playing video games all day, that would have worked better. This is besides the point though. I want to address the most important part of your post about where I am always right...because I am. This may be hard to accept, but I really do know more than you do. Someday you will come to understand that I have been sent here by a race far far away that created us long long ago to enlighten the people of this forum. I'm still waiting for an answer.

If you really feel that you wasted your time though, keep in mind that all games are a waste of time, maybe it is just that CIV doesn't suit you so well.
Well I really enjoyed Civ2 and 3, as well as SMAC + expansion, it's just this one I don't seem to be able to get very far in games with Napoleon.

I played another game quickly last night with the theory of "If you can't beat them - join them." so I converted to his religion and placed 6 defenders per city instead of 4.

He likes me now and he doesn't seem to be amassing the same army as he has done previously. Shame I'm going to try and culture flip his cities ^_^

            Thanks for the comment, John.

            • I hate all of you and I want to make sure you know that. This is my duty in life you see, and were I to become derelict in this duty a great calamity could befall the Earth. So you see, I do this not for myself, but for the scores of people around the Earth relying on me for their salvation. Do you see how important this is now? Do you understand why I do what I do?

              • So anyway, my ICQ number is 45583438. If we 1v1 it will be on a duel size mirror map with no barbarians always war. The standard turn limit and city elimination played on ladder is 150/2 but we can negotiate that.

This isn't quite where I wanted things to be. I DO want the AI to be stingy with strategic resources, but I wish that your allies would be more willing to trade them with you. Currently, they want too much.- Sirian
I traded a strategic source for 214 gold/turn from the greedy french who had a 'friendly' attitude to me...

So they do trade strategic resources but at a very high price...and can you blame them?

                  • No need to do it forever anyway. Just build up for a turn or 20, and take the resource somewhere with the army you just constructed.

Very steep price indeed. But if you need it and have the gold, why not. It must have been the modern age. What was it Aluminum, oil or uranium?

I tried to trade my spice for uranium with Mansa Musa. He nearly threw the monitor at me.

                            • Always war? Are you afraid someone will catch ya off guard when you're building up? The fun in Civ is making decisions that impact the way your game plays; if it's just about war, then the game will get repetitive quick like AoE does. If you don't like playing it the way it was designed, then maybe you're just too impatient a person for the Turn Based genre... You don't even like chess!
