I think so. I am not sure.

My account right now says "Owner" for the name and computer administrator for the account type. When I go to make a new account I can only make a computer administrator or limited account.

Any help would be appreciated. My computer is acting very buggy anyway, I can't even update windows at the moment. Something about it not being allowed. My hard drive recently crashed and I restored it, but it has been crazy ever since.

Despite this video card, my laptop is above min req.
        Thanks for asking.

EDIT: Can also see hammers, bread, coins and every resource available. Just not normal terrain...

AND I just found out I can play AoE3 without any problems, despite a "below system requirements" warning. Ok gameplay, almost perfect videos.

        Absolutely ridiculous!

Not even able to download the update. I haven't had any real problems with the game except for "feel myself aging" load times and 'some' (but not that bad) memory leak.
However, when I click "Check for Updates" nothing happens, and I mean nothing. Just locks up, except for the music. Anybody else have a similiar exerience? Could it be firewall related? Although I don't get a permission pop up from Norton like I'd expect if that were the case.
Of course, judging from what I've read here, I might be better off without the patch...

FWIW, with 1.09 and the Catalyst 4.12 drivers, I haven't had a single crash. I've got >100 cities on a huge map with virtually no water, and it's solid. Slow, but solid.

                what are your system specs?

It took having to repair my XP installation but I'm up and running again. don't ever lose your XP install booklet. not sure if I want to go back into that game of Civ.

My system is an Athlon64 3500+, 3GB memory, X800 Pro (256MB), running XP MCE. Some generic built-in audio provided by the ATI chipset. The Catalyst 5.11 drivers were unstable for me once the whole map was visible and active, but the 4.12 are stable and probably faster.

The only crashes I had with 4.12 involved crash on worker order, crash on missionary order, and so on; crashes that were clearly in the game. With the 1.09 patch, I don't have any of those.

3GB wow...well, it will be a while before I can get my upgrade. I want to look into it in the spring.

Patch fixed movie stutter but now crashes (after a few hours) to 800x600 4bit setting.

That's it, I've had it. After finishing my re-install of Windows, played for several hours this afternoon (down to a standard sized map rahter than large) and I'm still having bugs. This time it's Washington with the "white eyes", still have black holes in the terrain (at the corner of 4 squares), and after I saved, and exited to desktop on to actually crash to a BSOD. F*** this game. let me know when the next patch comes out.

Before the patch my game was stable but slow, since adding the patch my game has crashed twice and had two hard lockups which needed a power down. I think I'm going back to vanilla.

Single most useless patch ever released for any game, ever.

So far the 1.09 patch has proven to be worse than useless. The one and only change it has made to my game is to take the wonder videos, which were almost viewable despite the continuous stuttering, and render them 100% unviewable. Forget stuttering, now they have a frame rate of about .5 FPS. I haven't seen any other problems introduced -- yet -- but considering it was SUPPOSED to fix the wonder video stutter problem, and instead made it ten times worse, I believe I can say entirely without hyperbole that this is FAR beyond unacceptable.

                            Windows XP Pro SP2
Athlon 64 3000+ on an Asus A8N-E motherboard, with the absolute latest drivers installed
                            1GB DDR memory
nVidia 6600GT with the absolute latest drivers installed

Edit: Scratch that, just found a bug the patch introduced. Always before I could select Exit to Main Menu from inside a game, and it would do just that with no problems. Now when I select it it gives the good old crash to desktop. So that's two things the patch has made worse, with ZERO improvements whatsoever.

Well since you can get it just by firing up Civ IV, going to Advanced, then Check For Updates, I'm going to guess it's as official as official gets.
