It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

I think that what he meant was you had to do it in 2 turns to use the artillery for bombard and collateral. That siege weapons are often slower moving than your other units can make this a little frustrating when you want to plough through your opponent's cities.

            I've got one !

I will take my workers off automation before
taking enemy cities, as they will gleefully head
straight for the newly aquired lands with a
big "shoot me" sign on their backs.

Step away from the automation. Put it down and slowly back up...

Ah! Yes, in that case he is quite correct.

                  Here is one:

Be sure to check whether the civ that you are about to go to war with has a defensive pact with another civ!

That one bit me good last game.

                    What about the old classic:

"Don't fight a land war in Asia!"

Come up as one of the hints when I was loading a saved game...

                    Also:

Always cover coasts with at least two units and not just one (it usually loses even if stronger...)

                        ... kill thy neighbours.
.... remember, the dogpile is your friend. But only if you're on top.
... ask your "friends" what they think of other leaders, that way you know who they'll be willing to dogpile! Keeping your "friends" in war WITH you, keeps them out of war AGAINST you.
... there is no such thing as too much genocide.
... just because there are no obnoxious pillaging noises, doesn't mean there are no AI units sneaking up to a city! Watch for the flashes on the minimap!

To know your chances to win or loose, select the unit you want to attack with, press ALT key and rollover the unit you want to attack.

It will show you the modifiers and the final chances you have to win.

Good point Nelis, you should know the odds before you decide to attack. It's also important to know how to shift those odds in your favour by using the right unit for the right job and using artillery to lower the defensive value.

Of course that looks good on paper but in reality I seem to frequently get stuck on the

...not get angry if a battle doesn't go my way, and carelessly begin attacking just cause i'm pissed and vindictive

that one gets me a lot

I haven't noticed them yet. Do those occur when you get Red Messages to check in the log, or somewhere/when else??
