    I find it difficult to believe that they could accidentally code it this way while intending to code it the way we all assumed it worked. There may have been a disconnect between designer and programmer though.

      I think it is definitely a bug - it actually calculates it in the mouse-over the production output at the top of the city screen but doesn't actually change the production rate...there is not really any doubt about it.

            I checked and it doesn't seem to do anything to the iron at all...
