This was negated by her "Lack of sense of danger" promotion that you mentioned she received out of the barracks!

So she won. I never got to my spacerace victory cuz of that damn vote.
I'm sure, you wished another diplomatic option, because you are not able to demand redded items respectively services yet.

And here I am trying to win by culture in my house. So far I have the Den, basement, living room, and garage under my color and I have the bedroom down to about 67% Wife. Somehow my dog took the back porch though and is expanding rapidly.

I see a few problems with your reasoning:

I should mention that I was heavily fortified by two large pillows on my sides, and I was in a prone position, which clearly reduced my attackable profile. All told, I think I had the following bonuses:

                        +25% Couch Defense
                        +10% Low Defense Profile
*+75% Do Not Disturb While Watching T.V. *
There's no bonus for do not disturb...that's just about how much you don't want to be attacked. If anything it's a +75% bonus to her since she is catching you with your guard off--I almost said "pants down," but that's all kinds of wrong.

Similarly, no +10% for low defense profile. You're just moving down to her level so she can strike you even easier +30% for her). So you just have +25% couch defense.

                        +120 % Daddy Fear Factor

And that's before we even look at power ratings. I'm easily in the 60 range (I used to play sports 15 years ago). My daughter, on a good day hyped up on Cocoa Puffs while running with a sharp pencil, maybe has a power rating of 6. She does, though, get an added annoyance rating of 5 when crying, so that's something. And I'll give her the fact that she only recently was produced at the barracks with a few promotions (stealth and almost complete lack of sense of danger).
Daddy Fear Factor is important, but it doesn't work when you are have set yourself on "sleep" mode. You at least need to be on sentry. Unfortunately, your former 60 attack is now a mere 20, a -66% "old fart" penalty (my condolences). You also have a -25% penalty from overconfidence.

So, we'll assumed she's hyped up. She has an attack of 6; +75% because you assume you won't be attacked (she declares war when you weren't expecting it); +30% because you are lower to the ground and easier for her to hit.

That gives her a 12.3 to your 20.

The world as I knew it closed in around my ears, and I found myself praying that I wouldn't start bleediing. Could you imagine the humiliation?
So that's unlikely, but possible. Musketmen occasionally can rarely defeat an infantry.

It's simply unfortunate that the defender in Civ IV doesn't know what the odds are. If you had been able to see the modifiers then you'd find that what happened was a fluke, but far from nigh impossible.

If there's a senior citizen somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my grandmother. What you must also consider is that the kid had 1-3 First strikes, because she is so young and full of energy. The "old fart" can't react fast enough.

So that gave her a boost too.
