For reference my system spec is:
    P4 3GHz
ATI 9800 Pro (hardly high end!)
    2Gb RAM
I play at 1280*1024, high detail everything but not Anti-Aliasing

The only unusual thing I've noticed is my system temps seem about 5 degrees higher (CPU and GPU) when playing CIV than compared to anything else. I can't really work why this would be, the load can't really be that much higher than other games can it?
Never the less this could well be the cause of some of the more random glitches/crashes, if peoples cooling is marginal.
Actually that is useful for me since we have virtually the same system except that I have only 512 MB RAM.

As for the temperature increase, its something I've dealt with since RoN and RTW both of which require better than standard cooling in order to prevent CTD. With RoN the crash was predictable to within a minute or two from game start.

I don't think the CTD in the game (at least for me) is cpu temperature related. I ran this game in Windows mode and monitored the cpu temperature. It never went above 50 C (comparitively, most other games would run at near 60). This is a 3.4GHz P4 OC @3.74GHz, with idle temp at 40 C.

In my case, for RoN and RTW it was GPU.
