    I don't, but I could if I had a laptop with T&L.
You're at your girlfriend's house and you're staring at the wall? Hmm, I'd say some counselling was in order, or maybe a Viagra prescription.

I have an ATI X800XL, and the game runs fine after I unpacked the compressed art file.

Is there're link to this? because I see no official statement from either Firaxis or 2K Games, hell they're not even saying there's a problem with the game!

I've got to decide if I'm going to take this game back for a refund before the seven days are up and I'm stuck with it or wait for this patch which may or may not not fix the problem. I tell you people I got better help and response from Valve when HL2 was released and theirs was only a hardware problem with too many people on the servers but this game is just plain flawed.

Firaxis is not in the habit of making official statements about patches. They let the news pass through grapevine until they have the work mainly completed. Then they'll give a few days notice about the release date.

I am having a couple of slight problems where one time when I started a new game, the map looked like someone cut the left and right side with a knife and it wouldn't let me take units any further. Also it takes about 10 minutes to render the map when I use custom continents, one civ per continent.

I can beat that! I've installed Civ 4 on my laptop (I've been playing so far on my desktop) so I can bring it on my cruise that leaves this weekend. I couldn't take a week without civ!

I'll at least play an ocean world, for the flavor and all.

You are killin’ me! I can’t even get it to load and you are about to be playing while sailing the seven seas with a cold drink in your hand. Thanks a lot.

cool griffon pic gregules. You mentioned to post system specs if we have no problems. I've had a few problems. Civ4 runs ok on my system, except that the intro movie sound and vid is choppy, and the game itself is a little slow...but that's expected with my setup:

                          P4 1.8 ghz
                          512 Corsair ram
                          Abit mb
                          GeForce3 Ti 200 (64 mb ram)

Yep it's old but she run's Civ4 ok most of the time. I've had 2 CTD's in the 3 games I've played.

I'm in the beginning stages of planning to build a new computer. You know anything about this new bus that will replace AGP for vid cards?

Thanks for the info. I do not have any data on the Bus. Still trying to understand why a PC I bought two weeks ago will not load this game. it is killin me.

PCI Express (aka PCI-E, not PCI-X). At this time, it doesn't make any difference for performance, but PCI Express cards don't cost more than AGP ones (apples to apples), and PCI Express motherboards don't cost a whole lot more either. A decent nForce4-based board for AMD will get you SATA and PCI-E and serve as a good foundation for a computer for the next few years.
