Take2Games says patch is coming!

There is a patch in the works! They cant give me a release date yet and they are very much aware the game has bugs! They are getting phone calls streaming in with people with complaints and bugs! I asked why they couldnt just post something and they said only the Civ4 Developers at Firaxis have the power to do it and didnt know why they havent posted anything yet!

They'd better get a move on - this has been an incredible failure in quality control to let the horrendous instability of this game to get through...

Because the Firaxians need to take a good 2 week nap.

Also because you can't just throw a patch on a server. You have to test test test test. I mean, if you're trying to fix something, you have to be sure you're really fixing it and you're not breaking something new.

Ive posted about a bug in the diplomacy AI myself, and I've seen some graphics glitches (that go away for a while when you restart the game), but I would hardly call the release an "incredible failure".

The single player game is remarkably stable out of the box IMO, and the bugs are fairly minor compared with most other new game releases. I admit I have not tried a multiplayer game yet, so I cannot vouch for its stability.

Of course this would not be Apolyton without some people screaming at the top of their lungs about how much civ 4 SUxx0rZ or how disappointed they are with this game which they call the WORST CIV EVER !!!!!!1111!!!! after playing it for ten minutes, or because some obscure feature got changed.

Which is absolutely normal for the newest incarnation of ANY series, be it game, movie, whatever.

But to borrow from a quote that should now be familiar to all Civ4 players: Civ4 is the worst Civ ever, except for all the others.

I will not call this game an incredible failure because I trust that the gameplay is totally awesome and will not disappoint me... however the reason why this caught my eye and sort of upset me was because it is not an obscure feature or simple "Ten Minutes of Hate" its the fact that Civ will not work on my computer even tho I have the requirements and all the updated system needs. Thats the disappointing thing for me. And I trust that this patch will correct the things that are hindering more than a handful of people from playing this game...

A good amount of developers are posting daily in this forum. What do you mean they are saying nothing?

You have to be a friggin moron not to think they aren't working on a patch. Look at their track history and look at how they have already been working on the ATI problems

Asleep...point me to the post where there are devs proclaiming a patch is coming...I DO see plenty of devs posts..not a single one of them is saying anything about a patch however...plenty of devs "helped" the commuinty of Moo3 and we all see how many useful patches that game got....

This game feels like it was made for the "mod" community to finish...which of course is the evil "pay to beta" philosophy many many many game co. are running by these dayz..I expected better from Sid...by now this should be art for him...lets not even mention the forum mods who should have warned us EVEN if they were under contract...for the sake of the game...10yo gamers will never play civ because it will never run on the computers in the study hall/detention room...or like civ 3 did on my crusty, sand-molested laptop for forgetten aboriginal children in the australian wilderness
