Firaxis always patched their games and always listened for bug reports but the devs never posted about patch releases so forget it.

They will patch it, just not in one week.

This game is not a failure.
Everybody I know who plays civ (6) has no problems playing the game.

Of course there are problems, and the people who have the problems are voicing their opinion loudly on these forums. The content people are playing civ.

And since people are getting more and more eager to put their problems in extreme words, things sound like huge disasters.

OMG DA CIV IS BROKEN!!!111!!!1! IT WONT PLAY ONMYPUTER!11!!!!!!!111 ITS F*CKNIG BROKEN1!1!!!

and in the end it just appears that their computer configuration is wasted up.
But I'm happy a patch is coming though!

Really I've only had some graphics problems (getting a better-than-recommended card later this week) and the occassional CtD (I play huge maps because smaller maps are teh suck ), but I've been very pleased with the game thus far.

Firaxis has traditionally NOT been making "new patch in X days" announcements. at best we'll see a note 2-3 days before and that's only if they 1000% sure they can deliver

They certaily aren't going to be stupid enough to commit to anything, date or content...

              Can't say I blame them.

But to borrow from a quote that should now be familiar to all Civ4 players: Civ4 is the worst Civ ever, except for all the others.

I understand that, but at least they could tell if some already well knowns issues like the Intel TnL (aka black terrain) will be adressed or not in the coming patch.

At least I would know if I can return my game and request a refund or wait till the patch comes out

you can safely bet that the patch will address these issues

How do you know? Maybe QA did find them but either Firaxis or Take 2 said NO to fixing them and patch it later wich is standard these days.

I'm sure they have a list of critical issues to fix for the first patch, and I'm sure they WON'T release the patch until they've fixed all the KNOWN bugs. By the very nature of this software there are going to be 100's of bugs, its such a complicated system, and its unfortunte that a minority of players with problems try to make it sound like the game is completely broken and everyone hates it. That ust isn't true, it's just human nature to complain when something is broken, and PLAY the game when it isn't...

                            Actually, no.

The T&L issue is a hardware requirement, it is necessary to be able to play the game, this was announced over 6 months ago. If your graphics card is so crappy it doesn't support T&L (and this is true for many Intel cards -- if you're a gamer you shouldn't have an Intel card to begin with), you're out of luck. It's simply not possible to include T&L support for this game without rewriting large sections of it, killing a couple of features and taking a big hit on performance. If it was possible it would've been done from the start.

Other known issues will obviously be addressed, that's the whole point of a patch. But the game's only been out for a few days (in many parts of the world it isn't out yet). If Firaxis could read the future they wouldn't have shipped with these bugs to begin with. As it is, they'll need to some time to figure out what exactly the problems are and how to fix them. They can't announce the contents of the patch that hasn't been made yet.

                                No need for a patch.

Well i dont have a need for the patch.

The game is awesome out of the box. No installing problems, no graphics issues, no crashes, no bugs noticed in game. Maybe there are tweaks and balance issues or interface imrpovements that can be added over time.

This is one happy gamer, the more i play the more i want to do that one more turn before i sleep, ah who needs sleep anyway there is CIV IV to play.
