You called Isabella's bluff! Too cool! I can't wait to play...Originally posted by EPW
When I started pumping out frigates they gave up...and agreed to convert to Judiasm!!!
*cries*
EDIT: Did she just approach you and say, "Um yeah well, silly me... Shalom, I give up!" or did you have to coax her into ending the war, and then converting?

I started the peace negiotiations, and made some rediculous demands.
Eventually it was cut down to just the conversion and she agreed.
Its funny because the war started over religion, she wanted me to convert and I refused. Then a few turns later she declared war."

Re: Civilopedia entry for The Internet
I never quite understood the joke about Gore since I live across the pond, but then I found this article:Originally posted by funbob
I got a good chuckle out of this.
Al Gore and the Creation of the Internet It goes beyond the comedy created around Gore's initial statement though, and as such is an interesting read.
So that's a nice little

I challenge anyone to come up with religion specific names for Temple, Monestary, Cathedral and Shrine for each of the 7 religions that make sense (if you can, it might make its way into a patch, but at the very least a couple of mods) -- even without bothering for it to make sense you'd have a damn hard time. I know I couldn't do it -- and not for lack of trying. So we ended up only giving religion specific names to Cathedrals (Cathedral, Mosque, Synagogue, Mandir, Stupa, Pagoda, Confucian Academy) and Shrines (Church of the Nativity, Masjid al-Haram, Temple of Solomon, Kashi Vishwanath, Mahabodhi, Dai Miao, Kong Miao). No, not all religions had monestaries but not all of them had missionaries either but without them the whole religion model falls apart.Originally posted by Navyman
The gold version still has the "Jewish monastery" and not a Synagogue?

Can't you change stuff like this in the XML?Originally posted by Locutus

(I have no REAL idea what I'm talking about but I think it makes sense.)

I believe his point is: what would you change the names to, not the technical feasibility of changing them (which certainly seems possible).Originally posted by padillah

I have to say that my only concern about religious buildings was the name of the various 'cathedrals', but it REALLY seems like they have done it right-as well as shrines-small Jewish religious buildings ARE called temples, btw, as are Bhuddist, Hindu and Taoist. The nature of Confucianism is such that I doubt they had any temples, cathedrals or shrines in RL-but that would hardly be fair in gameplay terms
! Now, a christian 'temple' is probably better called a church, and a muslim temple could possibly simply be called a 'prayer room' or a 'minneret'. Anyway, just some random thoughts, and probably some which have already been dealt with!

AFAIK, a minnaret refers to the tower(s) of a mosque in Islam.
