  • Now that Civ4's gone gold, will the NDA be lifted?

I see that the beta testers are still being pretty tight-lipped, even after Civ4 has gone gold. I guess the NDA is still in effect, I wonder when this will be lifted? Only after the release date?

It would be nice to know so we do not waste time asking questions you can't answer.

    All the best.

The NDA is still in action.

    However, I don't think we're tight-lipped exactly, I've answered lots of questions!

I'd expect a minimum of no earlier than the 25th.

Lots of information has come out, and that's been great, many thanks go to Mark and Solver. But there are clear areas that you guys aren't touching, like espionage and modern warfare.

There isn't much to say about modern warfare. It is, after all, the same warfare as previously, only with planes. Airpower is, though, something that we don't talk about so far indeed .

The absence of airpower discussion in all previews is actually.. unsettling.

                  Don't be unsettled. Seriously.

I think most of us are just very respctful of our NDAs and going with the safest possible interpretation - would YOU want to lose the goodwill of Firaxis?

Oh I totally respect the NDA and don't expect anyone to say something that may violate it, my worry is that out of all the information allowed to be released, nothing whatsoever even touches how air units are handled in Civ 4. And then my cynical subconscious tries to poison my mind with ideas that they don't want to let any info about it out because it is ... well ... disappointing

Nah, it's not like that. It's just that none of the previews included in-depth air unit info, ergo, that didn't pass the approval. I didn't mention them much in my preview because I was already talking too much, and the key points are mentioned anyway.

Fried-Psitalon I feel at ease regarding air units... In fact I'm picking up positive vibes from both of your comments about it

                        thanks!

Of course Friedrich is being positive, the first time I saw air units in Civ4 was when he used his bombers against me .
