  • Interesting idea, but no. Until you actually have that new city, you don't know how much it will cost. Then again, you'll soon figure it out.
    WHOA!

I definitely missed this one. Let me make sure I understand: the initial maintenence cost of a city is different each time a city is built?

    • Not entirely. Each city will have two maintenance factors: distance from capitol and number of total cities.

The number of cities factor seems to be tiered, such that having, for example, 1-5 cities will cost 5 gold each per turn, then having 6-10 cities will cost 7 gold per turn. In each case, the capitol distance amount would be added to that number for each city.

So while two cities built the same turn at different distances to your palace will likely have different costs, those costs will be predictable and will make sense.

      • Maintenance will depend on how many cities you already have and how far the city is from your capital... so you may build a city with an initial maintenance of 2, or with that of 5. Who knows.

Don't new cities increase maintaince costs in all your cities?

This was also the impression I got.

Another question. What are the factors that determine the foodbox size required for growth?

Yes, they also do that of course.
