My game there actually had reasons why religions were founded the way they were. I founded Buddhism early as I went for a religion (Buddhism isn't always the first one to be founded). The rest of the civs of my continent didn't get the early religions, they adopted Buddhism, and thus had no reason to found a religion themselves.

540 AD is late for Christianity, you'll usually see it founded earlier. But Taoism and Islam are definitely religions you can well found later, if you miss the race for the earliest ones.

Ah. That makes me feel better, thanks.

Perhaps I'd still prefer that certain religions need to be discovered before others are, but I'd probably need to play the game to be sure/to see how it can be done.

Look at the tech tree - that's how it works . For instance, Monotheism has Polytheism as a prerequisite.

What happens if you get all the Holy Cities? For this scenario, lets say your cheating.

My intended point is to find out what happens if you founded every religion in the game, How is the pursuit of knowledge (of game mechanics) invalidated in any way by cheating?

I want to know what happens to a religion if its holy city is razed.

Which is rather insulting to about a billion people .

Hee Hee, this happened to me with a lost I had a few weeks ago. However, it was a surprise wonder's victory for Lincoln though while I was on a glorious military mission.

Damn! Good point Lorizael I too, would like to know the answer to that one!

...sounds like the perfect opening for a "religious anarchy" period...even to the effect of splitting up empires who had the former religion as their state religion!

Nothing would happen I imagine, if it still works as it did in CIv3, like the palace, it would transfer to a different city.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

You are probably right Alva....but it would be nice if some kind of fall-out occured from having a "Holy City" destroyed ...
