So the order in which they're unlocked seems to be:

    Buddhism
    Hinduism
    Judaism
    Confucianism
    Christianity
    Taoism
    Islam

This needs to be changed - we can't have Buddhism before Hinduism (that's like discovering Christianity and Islam before Judaism). Also, I know that screenshot is from just one particular game, but Buddhism in 3800BC? Islam in 1220AD? Christianity in 540AD? There must be some way to narrow the time window in which each religion is usually discovered...

You are judging this based on the results of a single screenshot from a single game, LordShiva. In fact, the order religions will be founded in will depend entirely on the path the various players take along the tech tree, which may indeed see christianity appearing before Judaism in some cases (unless I have got the tech tree all wrong in my head ). Remember, this is a GAME (not SimHistory)-and Gameplay must sometimes take precedence over realism. I for one, absolutely LOVE how the religion component is looking!!!

The game obviously needs the Buddah, Jesus etc, without these uber-people religion is completely broken...

Buddhism is unlocked by Meditation, Hinduism by Polytheism. Both are "level 2" techs and independent of each other, so both orders are possible.

Christianity is unlocked by Theology, Judaism by Polytheism. Any path to Theology incorporates Polytheism, so Christianity will always be created after Judaism.

Why do people get so worked up about this? I never ever hear comments like this with other games.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

That is actually incorrect , as Buddhism was an offshoot of Hinduism ( the Buddha was a Hindu ) .

Yes, I understand this. I was talking about gameplay mechanics.

I don't know if this has been talked about, but is it somehow prevented that those religions which will be unlocked first, won't necessarily be the biggest later in the game?

For me it sounds like those who unlock early religions are going to use missionaries and turn everybody around them to their religion. Therefore later in the game, when more "modern" religions (such as christianity or islam) are invented, everybody already are buddhist or hindu, and those new unlocked religions are "worthless".

I'm also a little bit skeptical in regards of that one person alone can unlock all the religions if he/she wants. I think more realistic way, more fun way, and the only way in the higher difficulties would be that if somebody already has unlocked a religion and invents a technology required to some other religion. Won't unlock it. It would not be unlocked until after somebody who hasn't yet unlock any religion, invents that technology.

But Siddhartha's ideas did not necessarily have to come from Hinduism. The point of playing the game Civilization is that you can see what things could have been. You can see what happens when the Buddha's religion pops up somewhere else, at a different time.

I'm no religious scholar, but unless i'm wrong, all the game religions can be pretty much independant of each other except for Islam, which has the 2 other monotheistic faiths as a background, and Mohammad as the LAST prophet.

I mean, Jesus didn't have to be a jew. He could preached the new way of Christianity if he were a hindu, no?

A lot of people actually believe that Jesus was preaching a return to the old ways of Judaism. He didn't call his religion Christianity, after all. His big problem was with the pharisees whom he believed had usurped Judaism.

                            But that's way OT.

All the religions are the same, right? So, what's the advantage is waiting before making a religion your state religion. For example, if a player discovers polytheism first, why would a player wait to get monotheism to make Judaism the state religion instead of just making hinduism the state religion right away?
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"
