It is funny how one can check the first option if it is written in English:
"I will wait, I don't read English, or I don't want to"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so
certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

I had never realized that France was the only country were almost every PC game in shops is translated. No imperial version available here.
Anyway, French people don't speak foreign languages. That's perhaps the reason...M. le Comte

Noooo!!! Really?!!?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

It's a long tradition we inherited by translation of movies: italian actors in dubbing teams usually do a good job - as long they are working on main movie / main actors. Budget movies sometimes got budget translation.

That said, AFAIK is not that in England and USA they really know a lot of foreign languages (well, spanish is quite common because of some large community of latin-american people, IIRC).
Probably our lazy friend try to dominate the world by economics, Hollywood and military just to force everyone into using english (just kidding - please don't flame the pianist )"We are reducing all the complexity of billions of people over 6000 years into a Civ box. Let me say: That's not only a PkZip effort....it's a real 'picture to Jpeg heavy loss in translation' kind of thing."

Same goes for germany.
Most of the games (and nearly all of the movies) are translated.
English Versions for most of the games are usually hard to find.
The thing which Infogrames did with Civ 3, i.e. first publishing the Original Version and then, a lot of months later, the german translation, was rather unusual for a games publisher in germanyTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

Almost every shop hat the english version available in large quantities, even the large department stores, who normally don´t import english versions of games.
So I think it was rather a step taken by the distributor than something the individual shops did.
Normally, if you want to find the english version of a game, it is useless to look in large department stores, as you won´t find them there (even if no german version is available yet)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death.
