Ultimately they resorted to the usual Fascist overkill in search of small triumphs- poison gas, aerial bombardment of undefended towns et cetera.

    • One sad thing is that Ethiopia is so poor...
A country with such long and glorious past has no modern-day accomplishments but winning a war against its former province.

        Losing, if you mean Eritrea.

That's where the 'managed' comes into play.

Last time when there was Ethiopia vs Erithrea in the news, Ethiopia launched a successful offensive that made Erthrea beg for a peace treaty and Ethiopia got all the discussed territory. It's very probable I missed later news, though.
But perhaps You mean that Erithrea magaged to gain independance?

                  • I guess so:

The most recent fighting resumed on 11 May 2000 when the Ethiopian forces made a major advance and captured a key border town inside what was considered to be Eritrean territory.
                    (...)
A peace agreement was signed on December 12, 2000 between Ethiopia and Eritrea putting an end to their two-year border war.
As we see, Ethiopia won the war, so Molly can refer only to the war of Eritrean independance. However, when I said that Ethiopia won
a war against its former province.
it should have been clear that I didn't mean the first (independance) war, but the later boarder war; during the first war, Eritrea was an Ethiopian province, not a former Ethiopian province. Also, it would be more right to call independance war of Eritrea an uprising, not a war.

Not from the Eritrean's point of view, which is the whole point. Ethiopia unilaterally and illegally annexed Eritrea.

...the UN passed a resolution that formally federated Eritrea to Ethiopia. In September 1952, the agreement was put into practice and Ethiopians replaced the British. The international decision regarding the fate of Eritrea had little to do with the aspirations of the Eritrean people themselves.

                          • As I've written in my previous posts, only during war in the 90s Eritrea was Ethiopia's former province. Also, it'd be nice if You did not expect me to don't know what I'm talking about. If I say Ethiopia won a war, and there were more than one of which one was won, I mean the one that was won.

                              O.k. so:

99,99% people of the world do not even know what or where is Mali.

                              Consistency is everything:

                              OK. Mali isn't that bad.
