A nice example of WELL-DONE manual is Supreme Ruler 2010's manual. Just to give you an idea, this is the FIRST MANUAL EVER which I use. I did read a few manual just for fun, but there really is some strategy and general help in SR2010's manual.
For example, under a title called "artillery", you don't just find "Stuff to shoot bullets from afar" but also how it is used historically, what to do with it and some gheneral tip

I used a civ2 manual once, it told me to go for leornado's workshop, which wasn't a bad idea.Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
