Well, that settles it. The official Apolyton stand on Civ4 is "10 out of 10".

Apolyton Weekly Survey I: Grade The Game

- Religions
- Trade
- Globe map
- SMAC-like social engineering (civics)
- Great people
- Simple mass-public-not-dubbed-down oriented
- Modder-friendly...
Actually, the only MAIN idea in my list that's not there is a supply system (= expansion limits, supply lines, plundering, supply/attack units balance, strategy...).
So it seems excellent... while we'll see if it reaches close to apotheosis

I voted 7 - Good. I would've voted higher, but Civ3 was a bit of a disappointment to me, so I'm not going to get my hopes up too high. However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

We're being way too premature to fairly grade the game. (and why top it?)"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)

It's not "grading" the game.
It's expression your expection for the game, based on your current knowledge."And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961

Insufficient data. If I did that for MOO3 I would have given it a 10 based on what we were then told.

Even at their worse, it will be better than MOO3, IMO"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. I rated it 5
I loved the way civ3 looked
In civ4 the units are disproportionately big, the map is still grid-like, the global view is ridiculous, no state or nation had that kind of planetary view until the 20th century, they had maps, that's it
Though, I like the novel city labels and state borders and WYG/WYS depiction of city improvements
The in-game movies may be exciting
Another disappointing news is that they're going to have about 18 civilisations, leaving Greeks, Turks, Bulgarians and many more out, hopefully Macedonians will be there
What are Zulus and Aztecs anyway?!?!?
Nobody knew Aztecs existed until 16th century and they were massacred out in a few centuries
Zulus are in stone age forever
I'm afraid their plan is to sell 2 or 3 expansions with more maps and civilisations, to rip off $100-150 from each civ fan, again.
No other game have such insanely ordinary and outrageously expensive expansions coming few months after the game release
Hope it's gonna have improved AI and gameplayfor SMciv4
