    That did it.

    Next question: It comes up with a bunch of zeros, not the proper default values. I installed GameSpeedTuner.jar and GameSpeedBackup.xml in ...\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets\XML\gameinfo - should that be the game install directory instead?
    Enjoy,

    Robert

      Yeah, that's right, it should be in the Assets directory, not the CustomAssets.

          I was just going to say this. I suppose I need to read a little closer.

          For anyone else who is having problems with Zip or Archive programs, look in the preferences of your zip program for file associations. Make sure .jar files are not automatically associated to your zip program.

          Also, you should be able to right-click on the .jar file and select Open With/Java2 Platform. See the picture:

            Can someone give me a direct link to version 1.5. cause all I can find on the web page given is 1.4. Sorry but the Java web page sucks, why they wouldn't have the newest version in the downloads section on the main page is beyond me

              I agree, it's one messy site.

              This is the link you need

              You still need to choose your operating system and online/offline installation

                    This is great

                    For the next update, maybe the program can let you save speed settings profiles, and then switch between them easily? Or even better, apply the new settings to new in-game options (eg. have the default Quick, Normal, Epic, Marathan, and add options like SpeedMod1, LordShiva SuperMarathon, etc.)...

                      Actually it doesn't work. Culture still moves 10, 15, 30 for the intial border expansion. It also works the same for each consecutive expansion. Er, this is culture set at 100. Shrug.

                        another thing i wanted to mention is I have the research setting for epic set at 140. The problem i'm encountering is late game theres usually 1 or 2 civs that just shoot fast ahead in technologies. I don't understand quite why or how they do it. it happens each game. Even small civilzations do it. Regardless of how much money they make. Could it be any of the other settings?

                        Epic:
                        City Growth 100
                        Unit Construction 90
                        Building Construction 100
                        Project Construction 100
                        Research 140
                        Great People 100
                        Culture 100
                        Tile Improvement Rate 100
                        Barbarians 100
                        Inflaction 25
                        General 100

                          @FireWalksWithMe:

                          Are you sure that the civs that shoot ahead aren't Financial? That might be the cause. Or they have a lot of friends and trade routes.

                          To the others:
                          Thanks for the compliments, I'll see if I can add a custom speed sometime.

                            Does anybody have Marathon speed settings for reference? I only have patch 1.09.

                                @Urban Ranger:
                                Sorry, I am not sure what you mean.
                                The values used in Marathon are (in the GamespeedTuner order): 300/200/300/300/300/300/300/300/300/10/300

                                @Azazel81:
                                I forgot to update this thread, but as you in the thread on civfanatics, Gamespeed Tuner as a seperate program has been abandoned. It has been slightly improved and incorporated in my bigger program, the Atlas Map Generator.

                                To get the Atlas Map Generator and thus the Gamespeed Tuner, please follow the link in my signature.

                                Regards,
